After seen the signs for days we finally looked it up. It is partly in the area were you can only walk. Thus part is a bit secluded reason we passed it for days. It is a small castle nice for a stroll. Also in the evening it is nice to see. Next time we will try to visit it from the inside.

The Castello is located in a tranquil area easily accessible from the nearby square were parking is convenient. Typical Norman Architecture and interesting features. no problem for people with special needs.

Like so many Puglian towns, San Vito has its own fortifications and their castle is really formidable and interesting to look at, adding to the delight of this town.

It's fine that it is a private residence but seeing that the most "bulky" building in San Vito cannot be visited in August except by reservation frankly halves the interest in visiting San Vito itself.
When we called, in front of the entrance door, to ask if we could see the structure, they dismissed us quite hastily by saying that no one could open at that moment.
Perhaps we overestimated the destination and, given the rare previous reviews, perhaps the owners do not encourage visits. No problem, we'll go and see something else.

The Prince of San Vito and his castle
The Prince and Valerie from Puglian Pleasures took us on a tour of his lovely castle.
It was fascinating to see and hear about his home, family and ancestors who have occupied the castle since around 1750.
The castle is beautifully kept and he is obviously very proud of his heritage.
We had a very informative tour and also saw the glassware that his wife etches.
Also very beautiful.
Afterwards we had aperitifs and Prosecco on the rooftop terrace.
Valerie was very friendly and knowledgable about the area and I look forward to taking part in some of her other tours in the future.

While the outskirts and ring road of San Vito are full of life and traffic, the center - which is a small jewel - is abandoned... tourist,
Yesterday, at 8 pm, there was the presentation of the book by a well-known author; the square was semi-desert, sleepy, dominated by the Castle that seems to have suffered the last enemy assault ....
Too bad to treat such precious Italian goods!
