Most Mt. Etna excursions stop at the Silvestri Craters on the lava-covered slopes, but with this exclusive tour you can reach the top of Europe’s highest active volcano with a volcanologist guide. Take a cable car and off-road vehicle to Torre del Filosofo and then continue on foot about a mile (2 kilometers) to the summit craters. Learn about the volcano’s history from your guide and enjoy sweeping views over the coastline.

A lovely place to spend a few hours of photo shooting the rocks. Locals say that this is where Ulysses met the Cyclops. Very close to Catania but not far from Taormina either. If you are driving from Catania to Taormina and want to just pass by then just avoid the highway.

From high up on the cliffs of Taormina, the black sand beaches off to the far right on the horizon beckon. After two weeks of phenomenal beach visits from Ortigia, Castellammare, Cefalù, and beyond, the insatiable traveler has to keep one’s bathing suit handy in the carry-on for one more final swim on the way to the airport in Catania Lungomare Di Acitrezza is heavenly. Sicily beaches have taught me well. First, locate a ladder and then jump in!

Booked through booking.com, place was immaculately clean, owner left lots of little things, like olive oil, coffee and sugar, butter, water, buiscuits etc. although we used the place just as a base to sleep, I was pleasantly surprised even with the fact that in the morning you have amazing views you can sip your coffee to ! Love it!

Incredible mind blowin spot with these lava rocks created by a passed Etna eruption and located straight in front of Acitrezza sea side walk. Even better at sunset. You can ask some fisher man to take you around them or explore the close by "Isola lachea" for a swim. Must visit in Catania!!!
