Outstanding from start to finish. Cannot fault the Armathwaite Hotel, service rooms facilities simply amazing. Surrounded in the most beautiful countryside.

Scenery is stunning. Lake is very quiet and lovely because of this. Great for kayaking- very clear water and the odd swan and ducks around too. Biggest plus is the views.

Big but not as spectacular as some. There seems to be quite a bit of private boating on the lake which will please some. I went to the Bassenthwaite Sailing Club. An optimistic sign said 'Welcome to the Bassenthwaite Sailing Club'. But no such luck,...More

I enjoyed a delightful walk down to the lake shores by St Bega church. So peaceful with the evening sun reflecting on the water. Toured around the rest of the lake by car the next day. Beautiful, overlooked by Skiddaw. Nice villages and the Lakeside...More

We spent a night lakeside at Bassenthwaite and it was lovely. If you like it walk, not all of it is accessible, so consider that when planning where to stay.

Whats not to like when walking in the lakes on a nice spring day. Good paths, good views, and scenery everywhere you look

Not many walking options. A walkway from the west side lay-by up to the Lake Distillery or Wildlife Park would make a lot of sense and surely increase footfall for the area. As it stands there are no walking options for the north or west...More

There had been some heavy rain so all the footpaths were flooded ( some up to knee height apparently) which was a shame but otherwise beautiful to look at from a distance. Road to Seatoller also flooded so our plan to get a bus one...More

Hello, I'm sorry you have been misinformed, we didn't cycle round Bassenthwaite lake. Just had a brilliant stay at the Armathwaite Hall Hotel.
