After spending much time researching Grand Cayman fishing charters and poring over reviews on Trip Advisor, our party of five (including three teen boys) decided to take a four-hour morning reef/light tackle fishing tour with Blue Water Excursions. Captain Richard and his boat-hand Frank met us promptly at Kaibo Yacht Club (pick up here is a great service for those staying near Rum Point, Cayman Kai or the North Side), brought us aboard and off we went. We spent the initial part of our trip trolling ballyhoo and squid out to the inner reef and visited a few different reef locations in search of fish. We had numerous hits and eventually managed to boat a handful of nice size barracuda. It was a calm, super hot day, so we took a short break snorkeling over a small, fish-rich, pristine reef near enough to Stingray City, but far enough away from the crowds that we were able to spend some quality time with a couple curious rays (Frank did a great job luring them to the surface with some squid) and tons of fish. After our break, it was off to the outer reef in search of some larger fish. We did some drift fishing for larger triggers starting in about 400 feet of water and drifting onto the wall at about 60-70 feet fo water. We ended up with a decent size Strawberry Grouper, a few jacks, two fighting Horse Eyed Jacks, numerous near misses with the triggers and finally one hit and one break-off with a reef shark that crashed the party. While we did not catch a lot for a large dinner (such is the ways of fishing!), the Strawberry Grouper was a real treat for lunch the next day. Hats off to both Captain Richard and Frank for a great effort to put us on fish, including staying out for an extra 30 minutes. Richard runs a great operation, a clean and well-maintained boat, is obviously knowledgeable of the local waters and demonstrates a great desire to take care of the reefs and the fisheries surrounding the islands. We had a great time and would definitely recommend others to check out Blue Water Excursions if looking to fish or spend time on the water during your stay in Grand Cayman.

We did two charters with Captain Richard (and Frank the fishing). One was snorkeling including stingray city and the other was a local fishing trip. Captain Richard was very accommodating and made sure that we all had an excellent time including our young son. Frank was also very helpful. Both of them were a pleasure to be around. We would definitely charter with him again.

My 8 yr old son and I had a fantastic day on the water with Capt. Richard and Frank! They were both great with my son and kept him engaged and interested for the entire 1/2 day trip. They told great fishing stories, explained technique and strategy and gave us a good tour of the island’s different fisheries. We got into barracudas, mutton snapper and tarpon. I highly recommend this crew and plan on booking them the next time we return. Thanks for a killer day on the water. It was very special for my son.

We chartered Captain Richard and his mate Frank for both a half day and a full day. We caught lots of snapper, went snorkeling at Sting Ray City and had lunch at Rum Point. One of the best parts was Captain Richard's fresh snapper ceviche! It was delicious! Captain Richard was very knowledgeable about where to find the fish and also gave us great advice on where to go site seeing on beautiful Cayman Island. We definitely recommend Blue Water Excursions and will be booking another trip as soon as we are able to get back! Thanks again Captain and Frank!

We chartered Captain Richard and his 33 ft. boat last week for a 4 hr. light tackle fishing trip. 5 people fit comfortably on the boat and fished 2 at a time for yellow jack, snapper and barracuda. The captain is very knowledgable and every one hooked into fish. Next time I would love to try the 7 hr. off shore fishing trip.
