We were at the end of West Bay Public Beach and it was very beautiful with not a lot of people there. There were some locals there playing music but it wasn't too disturbing. The sand was gorgeous and soft and the water was just as beautiful with calm waves and crystal clear. There wasn't much snorkeling in the area unless right beside rocks in a shallow area and we seen a few fish and a flounder. It's more of a relaxing beach day type of place. There isn't any shade down close to the water and we only seen one shelter area, which the locals were in, for shade.

This beach was a nice, relaxing spot at the end of the day. It was far less crowded than any beach we visited on our trip. It allowed us to just sit, relax, and enjoy the view/water.
The beach wasn't as clean and well cared for as some others, but I suppose that is the trade off for a quieter place.

No need for a charter. Our rental was right on the water. We snorkeling there every day and it was amazing! We saw an octopus, sea turtle, puffer fish and a ton of other reef fish. We never got bored after an entire week. As someone that doesn't usually like getting their hair wet, I was in the water for hours!

7 mile beech it has to be one the most beautiful beeches I hav ever seen. Crystal clear turquoise water, beautifully clean beech and ocean views to die for. There is a tiny tiny museum on the beech but to be honest not a lot in it.

We've snorkeled here a number of times. It's easy beach entry into the water. There's plenty to see if you go out and to the left. You may want to swim down the shore a ways before you get to the better snorkeling spots. Watch for boat traffic here including jet skis. If you like looking for sea glass, try going around the dock and up the shore to the right. There are number of little coves with lots of sea glass treasures to be found.

I found this a very convenient spot to enjoy the beach when I was short on time. it was near my dive shop and there was parking but it is not the "Grand Cayman Beach Experience" in my opinion.

We stayed across the street at Calypso Cove (highly recommended) and this became our own nearly private beach all week. Our first full day on the island was a Sunday and there was nobody on the beach at 10 am !! I thought I had died and gone to tropical heaven. The soft sand of the beach is flat on top but then drops down at a good angle towards the water. My older parents had a hard time walking down to the water due to the sharp angle. As you go into the water, it does drop off a foot or so but it's no big deal, you just take a few steps and start swimming. There is a lot of coral rocks so in some areas so I used water shoes all week and then I just didn't worry about it. The beach is actually a bit of a cove and the snorkeling was absolutely A-M-AZING. There is such a high salt content in the water that you can float effortlessly and the water is so clear, it makes is so easy to just swim out farther and farther. We swam to where a lot of the boats are moored but it was just so easy. Normally I would never swim way out but there is no current that we could tell and because you can see perfectly, it feels like you can touch bottom, but you can't. I am a beginner snorkeler and this made an incredible first impression for me. Other days we went down to Seven Mile to snorkel but I still think it was clearest here at West Bay. I just can't believe there aren't more people that go there. It was just so tranquil and everything I hoped Grand Cayman would be. Next year we're not staying in West Bay but we will absolutely still go to this beach!!!

Beautiful Beach..
We walked along the shore line enjoying the calm waves. The water was calm and warmed as soon as you got use to it. The sand was semi soft but I would still wear beach shoes.

We loved this beach. We had the beach all to ourselves most of the time. The sand is not as soft as Governor's Beach, but it is still lovely, and great for snorkelling just offshore. And great for sunsets too!

Is there shade or chairs and umbrellas to rent?
Thank you
Written February 10, 2020
None that I saw. There is a house that might rent out boards, chairs and umbrellas though. But there are no obvious places to go to rent them.
You might want to walk down the beach (a long walk though) to the Kimpton Hotel. Really nice area. You can also rent jet skis there too.

Where is the closest hospital or clinic?
Written March 15, 2019
There are 3 in the western section of the island, so It depends on where you are, since the area considered West Bay is7 miles long. If you know where you are staying It’s best to use a map to estimate how far it is from your destination.
