What an INCREDIBLE experience!! Steve is super friendly and passionate about his dogs. Unlike more touristy dog sledding operations, he takes you off the beaten path for an hour through the spectacular Brooks Range mountains. You get to dog sled next to the pipeline, and over frozen rivers. It leaves you feeling like you were part of a film, it’s surreal! The best part - you get to interact with the dogs! Highly recommend!!!…

A lot of fun to photograph the huskies and beautiful scenery :) Got lucky seeing some moose and ptarmigan too! It was a short tour, about one hour. I brought a fully charged camera. Dressing warmly is a big help. I wore a base layer, a fleece sweater with hood, and a puffy jacket. I also wore mittens on top of my glove liners, and a face mask and beanie. I was pretty warm with all these layers, and Steve, the musher also provided a sleeping bag in the sled basket. The dogs run really fast so it can get a little breezy, until we reach the forest.…

A friend and I recently scheduled an excursion with Wiseman Kennel - we had previously been mushing in Michigan's U.P., so we went in excited and knowing we were already fans of dog sledding. Even so, Wiseman Kennel totally exceeded our expectations! After a full walk through of the kennel and an introduction to all the (amazing, cute, friendly, AND hardworking) pups, Steve took us on the adventure of a lifetime in the Arctic backcountry. It was a beautiful day out to explore the extremely well-laid-out trail: sunny and bright. The path took us over a frozen river, next to mountains, and through the trees for a variety of unbeatable scenery. While he mushed, Steve also answered all of our questions about mushing and about the wilderness around us. (There was even a warm blanket for us to use while we sat in the sled - cozy!) All in all, we had such a great experience. Both of us would 100% recommend Wiseman Kennel to everyone!…

I traveled to Alaska to check off my "See the Northern Lights" bucket list item - and as a result got hooked up with Steve (And Atigun, Mario, Packer, JDog, Peach, Fox, et al.). Steve Took me on a tour of the Eastern Edge of the Gates of the Arctic Park and Dropped me off for my "Snow Camp above the Arctic Circle" bucket list item. Dog Mushing was a Blast - pristine wilderness - Moose, Snowshoe hares, a Grey Owl, and signs of many more winter critters. Steve and the Dogs were Awesome: Friendly, knowledgeable and Professional. My experience couldn’t have been better.…

Thanks for the awesome review Blake! It was great having you. By the way, I talked to a longtime Wiseman resident about us seeing the Great Grey Owl and he said that, even though they're known to be in the area, it's usually pretty rare to see them this far north, so that was a really cool wildlife sighting! Peach says hi! Thanks again! -Steve T.
