We had spent three nights in Alfriston and, on our way home to London, decided to stop in Ditchling to see the excellent Museum of Arts and Craft and the lovely church. We went by the scenic route over Ditchling Beacon and stopped in the car park. The Beacon is on the South Downs Way and is a must for... More

Well worth the short climb to the top from the small car park. The views are just stunning if you are lucky enough to get there on a clear day.

Plop £2 in the little envelope that doesn't quite fit in the envelope slot in the car park, slap on a comfy pair of walking shoes and off you go. Try to take a dog, walks are better with dogs... You can walk in either direction, both have equally marvellous views. There are no tea shops but if you're lucky... More

Superb view from the top, especially on Sunday 19th June this year. Add to this the sense of achievement having cycled a fair way up it and knowing that from here on it's less than 10 miles downhill into town for the final leg of the London to Brighton cycle ride..

Cycled up to Ditchling, it is quite a challenging ride but the views are well worth the effort. Quite spectacular scenery, you can see for miles. It is a really peaceful setting, definitely worth visiting.

Stunning views, and wonderful history, would recommend walking to Lewes and back, a couple of miles each way but its worth the trip. Have done it numerous times and never get bored, very peaceful.

A great view over the south downs but there are no facilities either refreshments or toilet. You can get a bus here as it is a bit of a way out. Great for a picnic on a sunny non windy day.

Visited Ditchling Beacon the advice of a local and we weren't disappointed. Plenty of parking space, and there were exceptional views north of the downs from the car park. We used the OS explorer map to find a suitable 2 hour walk loop and enjoyed some nice fields, woodland with splendid bluebells and great views all around. A great afternoon... More

Had a chilly walk up here on a Sunday afternoon. The car park is small but from there you can walk for hours in both directions across the hills - great views.
