What an amazing day. Saw countless dolphins, gannets and little Blue Penguins. The scenery was stunning. The skipper went backwards chasing dolphins and was late on his round but all for his customers benefit. This is the best boat trip I have ever been on. 100% better than Whale watch. Thank you for a truly memorable family day out.

The Pelorus Mail Boat offers trips to 3 seperate parts of the Pelorus Sounds on a weekly basis. We did the outer Sounds trip (Friday) today and it was just perfect. The day was long but there was always something going on so the time just flew by. Owner /Operator Jim Baillie is really pasionate about his job and he... More

The mailboat cruise is a great was to see the sounds and get a glimpse of what it would be like to live in such a remote and beautiful location. Jim is so knowledgeable and probably added quite a bit of time to his day making sure we could see and photograph the penguins, dolphins, and seals. It is a... More

Don't miss this amazing voyage on Pelorus Sounds! An absolutely wonderful day with Jim and Bindy on the Pelorus mail boat. They are so knowledgeable of the history of the area and had amusing stories of the current families living on the sounds. AND they were both wearing NZ Post sweaters! I thoroughly recommend this trip.

We did the Tuesday trip on a calm wintery day. The water was like emerald green glass and the clouds were like bits of white cotton candy hanging in the sky. Jim is a knowledgeable and entertaining guide - "ask me anything" he said and he seemed to know about most things including tree frogs, mussel farming and where to... More

We took the Friday run which is the longest and goes pretty much out to the Strait. I actually built the trip around the Friday mail run and was very happy I did. Delivering mail is ancillary, it is a tourist boat but it is wonderful with a very enjoyable crew and a very nice group of fellow passengers. It... More

A great experience in the Pelorus Sound, delivering mail and groceries to isolated residents. Be certain to bring your lunch; it can be a long day if you fail to bring food.

This was recommended to me by a friend. It takes up most of the day but is not too big and the crew made it so interesting. The crew informed us the history of the Sound and a lot of families. past and present, along with numerous anecdotes relating to the area. A must do.

As we were staying in Blenheim with no transport we were picked up at our motel in the morning. Small muddle as the email I had sent advising a change of accommodation had not been passed on to the driver, even though I had received a confirmation from the company.. Thank goodness for cellphones! Great day out though damp weather... More
