My girlfriend and I decided to take a day out from the bustle of Rome to enjoy a little bit of the true dolce vita at Donnardea. I'd expected to be greeted by a nameless suit with a bright yellow sign, transferred to a stereotypical vineyard and hurried around a dark cellar with a dull, running commentary from someone who couldn't care less.
Instead, we were greeted personally at Pomezia station by sommelier Veronica, who drove us the short distance to the family vineyard, set amongst beautiful rolling hills in the Latium countryside. Veronica's welcoming and friendly nature put us immediately at ease and we were introduced to Adriana, who took us on a walk around the beautiful family-run vineyard. We were introduced to all the different grape varieties and told about the different methods used to harvest them. We also got to meet the family's donkeys, horses and other animals before sitting down next to their lake for a wonderful home-made lunch of stuffed tomatoes, salad, traditional Italian bread and porchetta. The food was absolutely delicious and complemented perfectly by the wines we tried. We had a Frascati white, a Syrah red and, my favourite, Colli Albani.
We were then treated to some home-made miniature donut-shaped biscotti baked in white wine, which we dipped in our glasses and enjoyed at the end of the meal. Veronica told us stories about the wines and about Roman history and mythology as we ate and drank, making for a truly wonderful experience.
All in all, our visit to Donnardea was undoubtedly the best thing we did over our six days in Rome (and we did all the other usual things, like the Colosseum, Vatican, Spanish Steps, Via Veneto, Forum, Palatine etc. etc.). I just hope we get a chance to go back one day!

I've been many times to Rome and always went to the most 'touristic' places which are a MUST for Rome but becoming TOO touristic. This time I've decided to visit the outskirts of Rome and it is here that I met the best of Rome. Donnardea visit was the best attraction I could have made. We were greeted by the family/owners themselves and spend three hours on their beautiful land. This is the Rome you see at the cinema. Don't miss this excursion. It is worth every cent. Exquisite food and very informative.

Family-owned and operated, the Donnardea winery provided the intimate and informative experience I was looking for, complete with wine tastings and light lunch. Veronica was incredibly accomodating, and helped me plan the perfect 2 hour getaway....Regardless of your time and budget restrictions, I am sure she will help you find the Italian vineyard experience you seek. I could not be happier! Thanks again Veronica!

It was my birthday celebration at Donnardea a year ago. Great place, great and brave women, everything so cosy, nice and welcoming!
It was a surprise for me from my friends, so it was a kind of special request, with transfer from the center of Rome and birthday dinner.
Everything was just wonderful.
Send all my love to Donnardea and its magical people!

We loved our wine tour! Adriana was very welcoming, giving us the family history behind the winery. The tasting was very intimate (only the 4 of us and her), and included delicious homemade snacks! Definitely would recommend!

My wife and I had the pleasure of visiting Donnardea (just outside of Rome) and spending the afternoon with some members of the friendly family who own and run this estate winery and farm. We would highly recommend this experience to others--not only for the deliciousness of the products (wine, cheese and the farm-produced olive oil), but also for the beauty of the grounds and the relaxing and peaceful atmosphere. To be sure, it's a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the city!

We were a group of gardenentusiasts from Sweden that visited Donnardea in April 2019. We were served a lovely lunch with excellent homemade food and beautiful wines. A nice big garden had the day before welcomed lots of guests for barbeque and picnic and probably very good wine.
