Visited Phan Rang (or Thap Cham, dependant on who you speak to) as we were told that it was a untouched, albeit smaller version of Mui Ne without the heavy doses of Russian tourism and luxury spa's. This is hardly the whole truth, Phan Rang is a very built up area, with plenty of large buildings and wide streets and if anything is a more daunting and harder to access version of Nha Trang, which despite it's flaws for folk wanting to remain a step away from the tourist routes is, from my experience, an infinitely more accessible and friendlier place that Phan Rang. There is a small beach, which has some amazing views, but any idea of beachcombing or having a dip were soon evaporated by the amount off dog mess and litter strewn about. There are very few places that welcome foreign visitors, and english menus are rare, which I found really surprising given the open welcoming nature of most Vietnamese stores and people that I have encountered on my travels throughout this beautiful country and this, for the first time here, made at times for a very intimidating encounter or two. I honestly don't expect any kind of special treatment as I visit places and part of the reason that I love Vietnam has always been the awesome and honest encounters that I have made in sometimes very local, rough and ready places, so much so, that this country has helped me infinitely to come out of my own shell a little and I hold each of these memories as absolutely magical experiences that have restored my faith in people so much. Not so much here unfortunately, and I think that many visitors may find it a little tough to get by here, especially those touring alone. But hey, maybe that is just my experience and I would certainly never write a place off purely because I had a slightly rougher time of it, but would say go into this one expecting a bit of a harder wander.

One of the best beaches in Vietnam, highly recommended.
All beaches around Phan Rang are great . Try also to take a ride along to beach, great views.

Where we stayed the beach was clean and lovely. We helped the fisherman bring in their nets. Hard work.
The food at the Hotel was good.
We also walked 20 minutes towards the Wharf and boats and stayed Minh Duc Guest House, very clean and good room with own toilet and shower. Very cheap. Beach here terrible as locals dumping stuff. Interesting walk to wharf and fishing boats under main bridge where some locals live under. If you want to see how they live, go there. Not much else to do here.
Everyone is friendly.

What a beautiful landscape! Mountain and sea, it;s amazing. I have to "wow" a lot of times.
However, the native has sold goods and service with the higher price than normal. They seem not to need tourists. Yes, it's sad to say that most of them are not friendly.

The beach is beautiful. Particularly at sunrise. But just like I am not willing to die if a STD, I am not willing to die for a swim. The sting is like being burned with a torch and sliced by a machete at the same time.
The venom injected through the skin by the microscopic stingers loaded with toxins, can cause anaphylaxis and death. I was lucky. The water is warm and there are no warning signs.
Anyone going in should have a wetsuit or, do like many Vietnamese, who go in fully closed. Contrary to the belief that this is to protect their skin from darkening, it is to protect their lives!

Really enjoyed swimming at this beach outside our Hotel, especially at high tide when the water was lapping the swing seat that the hotel had set up on the beach.

Nice beach for relaxing as very quiet. The only problem is there is a lot of rubbish. I fished out a few plastic bags.
It also has a nice promenade for walking at night. We had the best oysters we ever had at a small cafe . you pay for weight at 100k dong a kg. The whole place shuts around ten at night but livley very early.
Recomend get up early as sea much calmer and fresh. In morning. You can also watch the locals doing there ti chi etc

Has it all, mountain and the sea. Love the view.
Rated 3 stars because of the lack of services. Nothing (up to my hygiene standard) was there. I mean no restaurant no cafe. Such a shame.
By the way, it is extremely crowded and dirty in Vietnam National Holidays so do check their holidays when you plan your trip.

This is a beautiful place to see the real Vietnamese fishing culture. Na Trang is a better place for going to the beach, but if you wanna see some culture go to Phan Rang. I think in a couple of years it’s the same as Nha Trang, because they are building big resorts a long side the coast. Not much choises in hotels, but pure was fine.
