It's more like a miniature national park if you can imagine hiking hours in a national park just to climb to the picturesque peak but at Benmore, you can get to the TOP (Chilean view point) under 30minutes. The panoramic view of the surrounding fog covered hills gave a mysterious and calm feeling of the place. It's easy to walk... More

This is the jewel in the crown of the Royal Botanic Society of Edinburgh. It is a must see for anyone interested in shrubs and plants from around the world. All exhibits are clearly labelled with name of species and country of origin. Most of the garden is constructed on the plain of the River Eckaig so much of it... More

Visited on a rather drizzly Sunday in July 2016. I thought that this might make a garden walk a bit of a trek but I was lucky to have timed my visit so that a guided tour was just about to start. I was the only one being taken round so initially felt guilty about this but this was soon... More

These botanical gardens are lovely. There are lots of different paths you can take so you can choose from a short flat walk to a little hike. Plenty of interesting information dotted around the place so you don't even realise quite how much walking you're doing and loads of lovely plants, massive trees and cute buildings and installations. The cafe... More

I really liked the Benmore Gardens just a short drive from Dunoon. The flowering Rhodies were spent but the garden layout quite well done. A hike to the fernery was nice and Monkey Maze interesting. Good views of the Holy Lock highlands as you ascend the gardens. Was not far from our lodge (cabin) in Pucks Glen.

We spent a great family day out at Benmore gardens. Firstly the staff at the entrance are very friendly and helpful and explain all the routes and points of interest. We took our 2 year old with us who mostly managed to walk the paths on her own. The paths are well laid out and are never too hard going.... More

These gardens we beautifully set out , with lovely flowers and varied paths at different heights to walk along. Staff were happy to talk about what they were doing and it was through them that later in our holiday we visited the Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh - they are related, rather like the Wakehurst Place and Kew are in London... Go, walk, enjoy, find the avenue of Wellingtonian , 50 were planted and only one blew down ! It's amazingly beautiful but, prepare to walk and walk and walk, before you know it you've looked at so many amazing trees from so many environments and learned so much it's a days outing to see them. And in that time no... More

The trees and bushes were really impressive as with the "Golden Gate". We stopped at the cafe for our elevenses and then spent a whole afternoon in the garden. Some of the paths were pretty steep and so be prepared for a bit of exercise although there are alternative paths that are easier and considered suitable for wheelchairs
