This waterfront redevelopment project opened back in the mid-90s - converting underutilized port facilities into a shopping and entertainment destination. However, just a few short years later in 2002 through mismanagement and isolation from the more popular tourist areas of the city, it went bankrupt....More

In World War II, the Aloha Tower was one of the landmarks of the island that visitors to the island first saw. Nowadays it has been eclipsed by numerous high rise hotels and has fallen into a state of disrepair. The market at the base...More

The marketplace is really not worth a visit, BUT THE ALOHA TOWER IS. Take the vintage elevator to the observation deck at the top of Aloha Tower, and enjoy one of the best views of the Honolulu area. This historic landmark is a highlight few...More

This used to be a shopping center, but now many of the storefront shops have been replaced by offices and classrooms for a school, plus just other offices. So it's a dull place.

This was a really nice treat. Lots of parking, and an easy walk to the water. Very clean, and well lit.

The marketplace is well past its prime and as others have noted, there aren't really any stores anymore. (I think the university has taken over a lot of the real estate.) The tower itself is worth a visit if you're in the immediate area -...More

Like the Hawaiian Statue of Liberty, the Aloha Tower welcomed immigrants for decades. During WWII, it was painted camouflage. Today, it has an observation deck on the 10th floor, is surrounded by the Aloha Tower Marketplace (part of Hawai‘i Pacific University,) and welcomes cruise ship...More

We got a good view if the tower fron our cruise ship but an even better view of our ship from the top of the tower. It was about a 20min walk from pier 2 to the tower. An old elevator takes you up. A...More

I stopped in on a Sunday after services at the Cathedral. Parking was easy to find and secure. Curiously there seems to be little or no shopping. I went up the Aloha Tower and enjoyed the view but that’s about it for activities. Some restaurants...More

We headed towards the Aloha Tower, which was closed so we did not get a view, and so visited this marketplace. I imagine when cruise ships used to arrive this place would be busy. There are some nice statues of 'hula girls' here and there...More

I don't know about luggage storage at Aloha Tower, but if you arrive on a cruise ship there is luggage storage available inside the cruise terminal before you exit. In 2017 it was $5 or $10/bag to store them until 4pm.
