We got on the cruise ship on Oct 12 2019. The part getting on the boat was ok. It was kinda confusing because there was people getting off the boat from their cruise at the same time. Just get there early and have plenty of...More
Galveston is a small and very old town
There are non modern fancy hotels along the beach front
Because I have to stay nights before my cruises I stayed at 2 separated hotels both has famous hotel management brand But my experience were average. At...More
The Galveston Cruise Pier is old and in serious need of updating. It is overcrowded, chaotic and with people disembarking and others embarking it is crazy. The cruise lines need to make a major investment there.
We boarded the Carnival Vista from this port. Carnival’s system got us on the ship very quickly and efficiently. We love Carnival❤️
However getting from Houston airports to Galveston Island is much more challenging than cruising from FL ports. We came 3 days before our...More
Fairly good boarding the Carnival Freedom but extremely terrible upon disembarkment,2900 people leaving a ship and only 5 agents show up,Carnival Agents tried to keep it going smoothly but when the Feds are involved its their show.
We parked at the Port of Galveston park and cruise. You can save a few dollars if you purchase in advance which we did. We parked across the street from cruise terminals. There were plenty of shuttles to get us to and from. Also the...More
Ported from Galveston 8/14/2019:
Everything was so-so and not remarkable until our 4th day. Then it turned awful.
They confined us to our stateroom for 24 hours. We didn’t get to go to Cozumel because of stomach pain I was having that morning which I...More

Not knowing what you are paying for the rental it is a tough question to answer. Assuming you are taking a 7 day cruise, an uncovered but gated parking spot at Galveston Park N Cruise will run you $75 for the week. I use this place to park on every cruise. It is directly across the street from the cruise terminal. Drop your bags off, park your car and then walk across the street to board the ship. Hope that helps.

The process usually isn’t long once you get inside, but there is plenty of walking. I agree with the previous reply that there are plenty of people to help you get a wheelchair if necessary. I can’t remember if I saw courtesy wheelchairs when we were there last month or not. But I would suggest getting one. I always consider my elderly mother (who has difficulty standing for long periods or walking long distances). The walk into the building from the entrance and then the winding around you do for the check in process would make me want to get one for her if she were going with us. Better to be safe than sorry!
