The tour is so much fun! Hubby really liked it, they gave him free beer! Friendly tour guides and tasting room staff. Highly recommend doing this tour.

We stopped in Bend during a recent cross country trip specifically to visit this brewery and we were not disappointed. From the moment we walked in we were greeted by people who were genuinely happy we were there. Each employee we chatted with were engaging and very knowledgable about their beer. The tour was given by a very enthusiastic Kim who not only is funny but truly loves what she does! Each question was answered and each step of the process was elaborated on. The tour itself was very informative and the 4 samples at the end is a nice way to end it. I would highly suggest a tour if in the area. Tours are free, can be booked in advance, and provide your choice of 4 5oz beer samples. They have over 15 to chose from so it makes the selection difficult but gives you a great opportunity to try new beers to see what you may want to order or purchase in the future.

Kim was a fabulous tour guide for our family of 8!! She was super knowledgable and so much fun! A great tour. Make a reservation if you can. The beers are tasty and what a nice facility. They have amazing ginger ale and root beer for the non-imbibers in the group. I would make sure to keep this in your plans.

Made a reservation online for a Sunday afternoon tour. Arrived about 10 minutes early and we were checked in and given a card for 4 samples. They could be used before the tour or after. Tried a couple of samples and then our tour was called. Jeff our guide, talked very fast and I found it hard to follow at times, but he was very informative and knowledgeable about the Deschutes Brewery products. Since we were there on a weekend, the bottling line was not operating. Tour lasted about 45 minutes and was well worth the time if you are in the Bend area. The Deschutes Brewery is now the 7th largest Craft beer brewery in the US.

Good history about the brewery, interesting info about employee perks (all beer related), terrific tour guide, and (of course) samples. I like that you preschedule on their website to ensure a spot on the tour.

Deschutes represents what craft brewing is all about: commitment to quality; desire to experiment with their brews; celebration of their crew and community.
It's a good tour - you see a lot of the brewery, get a lot of information. Our tour guide (Jason) was knowledgeable, and in the one or two instances where he didn't know an answer, he got the information at the end of the tour.
The taproom is a great place to try many of their different beers and ales.
And don't miss their restaurant downtown - good food and more beer!
Bend is a beer-lovers paradise!

Thanks for the great review! We're so happy you joined us & enjoyed your experience. Jason is definitely a Rockstar guide & we'll be sure to buy him a beer;-)
We hope you'll join us in our tasting room and at our pub again the next time you're in the area, and thanks for drinking Deschutes! Cheers,
~Jordan

Our ambassador Jeff was outstanding. Gave us lots of info about beer and Deschutes history. You don't get free samples, in fact the tour costs $5. But you do get a can of beer to drink during or after the tour. Definitely one of the better brewery tours we've been on.

I didn't think that kids would be allowed to tour the facility but I was wrong. For the most part, it was the kids who enjoyed seeing the live version of "How It's Made" that we love to watch on TV. The bubbly and friendly tour guide made us smell and taste hops, eat different variety of barley and educated us about the key ingredients of beer making. They showed us how the beer bottles get filled, capped and labeled. Afterwhich is the free tasting and I now know how to pick beers to drink next time. I bought the Black Butte Porter. I turned around and saw my kids having a free sample too! I said, what??
Don't worry, mom. It's free root beer. The tour guide gave it to us! :)

We could not get in for a brewery tour when we went because they were booked solid. You have to either call or book online ahead of time particularly on weekends. Great tasting room, staff is very attentive and totally knowledgable. Tasting is free!! Always a plus and the beer is excellent of course! They also have their own root beer and ginger ale tasters for non-beer drinkers - the ginger ale was surprisingly good!
Wide range of really cool products available for purchase. Noticed some Christmas shopping going on.
Not a place to bring young children so please get a sitter. They'll become bored very quickly and ruin yours and everyone else's experience!!
We will definitely make this a routine stop for ourselves and visitors.

My husband loved the beer. He also loved the 4 free beer samples.
I'm not a beer fan. Having told this to the bartender she offered me root beer and ginger ale. It was so nice and refreshing having her serve us especially after the horrible service we received at Atlas Cider. My husband brought his growler in and apparently Mondays they offer $2 off. That was a nice surprise!
Husband bought a t-shirt he loved the beer so much.
Must visit if you are in bend.
