A very scenic place/ You can walk around the park grounds and climb the pagoda itself. There are a couple of souvenir shops in the grounds, less overpriced than in some parts of the city.

Kaifeng, located south of the Yellow River was totally flooded several time in history and most of its history is buried under layers of mud. The Iron Pagoda was constructed on a hill (great foresight) so after the many flooding through the centuries, it is...More

In a nice, green park next to a small lake, the scenery is perfect for this unusual building. Not difficult to climb the stairs to the top - interior is interesting and provides good views of surrounding area. Worth an hour.

This tower is about 1000 years old, one of the few things remained in Kaifeng that's from that era. You can climb up the tower, but expect tight space and big steps (some steps are a foot in height).

This was a great find - a peaceful serene park with interesting architecture and historical sites. The highlight of course is the authentic Song Dynasty pagoda which overlooks the park but there are also a few nice trails and other temples. In particular, one houses...More

Being an old capital of many dynasties in China, Kaifeng is a city full of history and culture. However, many historical places have been refurbished into something 'semi-historical'. This way of protecting the heritage is quite controversial. But the Iron Tower is an ancient heritage...More

This is a largish park, with quite a number of attractions. What's interesting about all the temples etc., is that unlike so much of China, they've not (yet) brought the decorators in. As a result, you get a real sense of antiquity and history. It's...More

And definitely, unique. The oldest and tallest of this kind; also, the best preserved one. To be able to visit it, you will have to pay an additional ticket.
