A key feature in the Denver skyline because of its gold bell-shaped dome, the Capitol Building, fittingly in the Mile High City, has a point located at exactly 5,280 feet above sea level. Free tours are available for visitors.

While we were in Denver visiting friends, my family and I took a stroll to the state Capitol. I love architecture, and the Capitol was absolutely gorgeous! From here, the business district is clearly visible, as are the mountains to the west. The mile-high marker...More

We took a quick walkabout with a guide and found it to be worthwhile. It was interesting, especially with the guide's commentary about how various aspects of the decor related to Colorado history.

Visitors can enjoy nice views of the business district from the State Capitol and look for the mile-high marker on the steps. If the timing is right, visitors can observe a live legislative session also. Small gift stand.

We enjoyed our visit to the Colorado State Capitol. Jack was an excellent guide. He gave us quite a bit of interesting details on the building and the people involved, especially about Mr. Brown who also built the Brown Hotel, and pointed out to us...More

The trip to the capital building would have been better with a guided tour. Due to construction, we entered the building through the side and missed the area to pick up information about the building.

It was wonderful walking around the building, and seeing the views from all sides; and walking inside the building was a delight! If you like seeing beautiful architecture, this is a must-see. You can walk around on your own, or do a guided tour. You...More

Good grief, at least sweep the steps, it's the state capitol for crying out loud. If you want to see true political dysfunction, follow both parties on Twitter. Whomever is running CO GOP social media certainly isn't doing them any favors... 😆

We always planned to have a quick look around the State Capitol but decided to take refuge from the heat outside one afternoon and joined the guided tour to extend our visit. We were really pleased with our choice, the tour guide was great and...More

Beautiful historical building, gorgeous grounds. Tours offered...take one, you'll be able to visit the rotunda! Tour guide was amazing. Appreciated his knowledge of the history of the area and the building. You MUST take the time to visit!

Interesting layout and dimensions to this state capitol building in bustling downtown Denver. It is a working state government admin building but not much happening during our visit. The grand staircase reminded us of the Titanic!
