Let me start by saying that even the locals are saying this is not a safe place to go to. We only drove around it. Did not feel like the right place to park our car and walk into. Certainly do not know why TripAdvisor...More

My American friend and I went on a .....Monday, I think? First things first: if you're a nervous driver and hate parking, take a taxi or an UBER or a guided tour. That area is complete and utter chaos. As far as the market goes,...More

You can buy anything from clothing, spices, African souvenirs, The whole area is very run down but you feel safe , well worth a visit, my suggestion is to use a taxi as parking is impossible.

But some of each. We got some great spices and some local crafts. Note that there are two buildings and that the market is busier and more vibrant in the am.

Go there as a traveller rather than a tourist. It is in downtown Durban which is rather run down and badly maintained by the local council.

This is a fun market to visit - shopkeepers and assistants are really friendly and only a couple were pushy. There is a lot of beautiful Zulu and Xhosa beaded jewelry here and if you’re around for a few days, you can also commission pieces....More
