The waterfall of Ras el-Maa is just beyond the far Northeastern gate of Chefchaouen Medina. It’s here, where the water comes gushing out of the mountain, that local women come to do their washing. The sound of the water and the verdant hills provide...more

The only interesting thing in Ras Wi Maa is the area where the community share a space to wash clothes.

This cascade is very handy. It keeps things cool and provides heaps of running water for the women of the town to come to the communal laundry to go the family wash. I imagine that it provides an important source not just of H2O but...More

Quiet place just outside of the Medina, worth a visit if walking up to the Spanish Mosque, if only to see the women doing their laundry the old fashioned way. A series of mostly manmade cascades really, and quite littered. There is a nice restaurant...More

Walked through this area after coming down from visiting the Spanish Mosque and although it's quieter as it's outside the medina, unfortunately there is rubbish everywhere which spoils it. Interesting to see the locals washing their clothes in the falls and it is picturesque.

We walked just to see the source of the water for the old city. That’s where the women do the laundry. We came early in the morning so there was nobody around.

You will pass these waterfalls when going to the Spanish mosque, so it is worth to stop a minute. It's a busy place, packed with locals and it has an interesting vibe.

There's not a lot to see in Chefchaouen so do go the the waterfall but don't expect a proper waterfall. There's hawkers and a few stalls around. You can walk up and back into the Medina quite easily.

Not a stunning place for sure. Some vendors and hawkers along the way. And then you can go onto the maze of lanes in the medina to the Hammam.

In contrast with the central square in the Medina, which is packed with Western tourists, this waterfall area was packed with Moroccans. It was beautiful and quite fun to experience.
