Pretty standard old, fancy building with a crazy dome that absolutely does not look like it's on the right building. I would not recommend unless you need a little break from the heat.

I have seen opera houses in Paris, London, Vienna, Oslo, Moscow, St. Petersburg and also in Muscat, but this one really tickled my heart. Remnant of the rubber boom, this opera house is the home of the Amazonas Philharmonic orchestra. It is a cute building...More

This was second time their. The first , 19 years ago was just after the renovation. It sparkled and we sat in balcony and listened to local songs and music and dance. This time it was a bit worn and dull. Donot think much has...More

The riches from the late 19th century rubber boom financed this place. Europeans wanted to feel at home in the jungle which lapped around the edges of the Opera House back then. Even if you don't enjoy a performance, just sitting in the individual chairs...More

If you are in Manaus, it’s definitely a place you should go see. And there are plenty of great cafes around for a good meal. The vibe outside of it, and the surrounding area is just full of life.

A fantastic feature to see this beautiful opera house in the Amazon. Many great stars have performed here at a place built by the rubber barons in the 19th century. A must see whilst in Manaus.

Marvelous history of the oppulance of the wealthy barons of the time. That this place is 1000 miles up the Amazon river is stunning. Well worth the tour and if lucky a concert.
