It was a beautiful Chinese-styled garden. Smaller than what I expected, but it’s a very nice place to stroll and relax in (if you can ignore the crowd).

This is inside the Forbidden City and a beautiful tranquil area (despite the crowds). I enjoyed walking in amongst the rock formations, lovely cool spots to sit and rest out of the the searing heat

It may not be your 'western ' idea of a garden but it is a pleasant end to your visit through the Forbidden City. Take a while to relax before you join the bus / taxi / tuk-tuk melee outside. You'll be grateful that you...More

Beautiful smaller architectural gems, shady area in this northern part - which once was the private area for the emperor. > see more in my review on Palace Museum.

an oasis within the forbidden city... This is a beautiful space to take a rest and have some water. Bring plenty of water, a frog togg, and an umbrella for shade in the summer palace because this garden provides the only shade.

It was interesting to walk around these spectacular gardens where emperors have walked. But the crowds were too much when we visited and it was therefore a little disappointing.

The sheer number of people passing though the garden daily is staggering. Despite the tourist volume, the garden is quite beautiful. Towers of natural limestone "sculptures", flowers, trees, and water features create a divine scene. Just stop for a minute and tune out all of...More

Some of the trees and plants, and the rock formations, are very exotic and in a nice way, unusual. For the palace inhabitants it was probably a peaceful and tranquil haven. During my visit, it was loaded with sightseers and a little noisy. It was...More
