Was very unsure whether we’d see any yellow eyed penguins as they are so rare now and had tried elsewhere independently unsuccessfully. But this was so worth paying. The tour leader was fun, passionate and dedicated to showing us the conservation work they’re doing as...More

This was a sad but wonderful experience for my family and I. Sad to learn that we could be the last generation of humans to witness these beautiful anti-social hoiho in their natural habitat. We could lose them within 15 years if the population continues...More

As a birder, seeing the yellow eyed penguin come out of the ocean and waddle up the sandy beach up into the grassy foothills was magical. Plus, the proceeds go to penguin protection.

Very good briefing about the sad decline of yellow eyed penguins. Saw penguins in the hospital then drove/walked to see blue penguins in their burrows. Got the impression that all the conservation efforts that have gone on may not save them.

I enjoyed this. We ended up seeing 3-4 penguins. They work hard trying to get to the right place and wait for the penguins. One came in and we were waiting for it to walk up the hill. They really wanted us to see that,...More

It’s almost the reverse. The Penguins are in the wild, and you are hidden in a trench. The penguin we saw was about 15 feet from us, but it could not see us as we were hidden.
