For such a quaint little square, it has seen a lot of action over the years in the form of protests. The last big one was during the Global Financial Crisis.

Small square in the old part of the city, but very very quiet. Maybe it's a little busier during the summer months. Had a quick stop/sit down having walked for hours but that was about it.

This was a tranquil spot to visit. When the weather is good, you will find locals out enjoying the sunshine on the green lawn.

At 4pm on a weekday, this seemed quite a quiet square but still pleasant to wander through/ It has a statue of Jón Sigurðsson within it

One of the centers of town, the square with the old church, Parliament house, and a big statue, hotels, shops and restaurants all around. Landscaped.

With a few minutes to kill while waiting for our hotel room to be ready, we walked around the square and checked out the statue. The park was a little dirty...and it was crowded with people like us doing the same thing. This also seemed...More
