This is most delightful stop on any visit to Florence. Many tour groups conveniently convene here, and there is the beautiful Basilica di Santa Croce right here as well. The plaza has quaint surroundings, quaint shops and eateries, and a lot of history. There is...More

Named for the eponymous church this square is home to a fountain, statue of Dante, historical palazzos and in June, the annual Calcio Fiorentino games. Many restaurants and shops also surround it.

Beautiful piazza with Basilica. Areas to sit with lovely shops around, particularly leather ones. Good value eating places nearby.

The square may be gorgeous at the rest of the year but in June it is full of scaffolding for the annual tournament which makes it awkward to get around and see the square properly.

Stop and stare at the beauty and symmetry of the
Basilica of Santa Croce any time day or night.
Unraveling around it are a number of architectural and
artistic masterpieces, from the Synagogue to the
Central National Library. As a hub for young people,
the area gets busy with people who want to have fun: a
continuous flow of tourists and locals become animated
by songs and dances.

Yes. There's a Taxi stand just in front of the square. But it's only a five to seven minute walk.
