I love books and I love bookstores. This was different than anything I'd seen before. Books in a gondola, books in wheelbarrows, books everywhere. It has narrow aisles and gets quite crowded, but it's worth a visit. Look for the bookstore cats.

Beautiful place with interesting history. Buy some postcard or magnet here or leave donation for cat food in the box at the back of the shop just by the famous "book steps"

A bibliophile's dream come true! The name translates into "high water bookcase", and that's an accurate name as the area does flood on semi-regular occasions. While we were shopping around, there was video playing on a TV showing about 2 1/2 feet of water in the bookstore.

Sell worth finding where this store hides in Venice. It has so many things to look at and discover through out the tiny books and crannies. To sit at the back door and see gondolas float past is magnificent and don’t forget to climb the stairs made of books.
