If you love modernist art - particularly Surrealism, don't miss this museum. Guggenheim owned some of the most well known Max Ernst pieces, Yves Tanguy, Victor Brauner, De Chirico, Joseph Cornell boxes, and a great collection of Duchamp maquettes. And...don't miss the Mario Marini horse...More

Peggy Guggenheim had an eye for art. She has chosen a good selection of modern art. Small museum just right if you are looking for something different looking to Max Ernst one of her husband and Jason Pollock

This art collection is amazing. Housed in a very interesting residential space, each room offers something special. The history of the former owner and her legacy is shared by guides at specified times in small group talks. Highly recommended.

When visiting Venice we never miss P. Guggenheim. The palace with a way out to Canal Grande is already an invitation to visit it. The garden is a special phantasy. And paintings; you always discover something new.

Slightly ironic to have a modern art gallery focusing on art created over half a century ago, but it is a fabulous collection of art and the story behind the collection is fascinating. Well worth a visit.

Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with
street artists, students, painters, sculptors,
restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and
heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's
collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for
evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries
cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica
buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob
