We had an amazing visit to Monkey Park. If you want to see wild monkeys in their natural habitat and listen to the roar of howler monkeys this s the place! We did several other activities in the LaFortuna area before visiting and this was the highlight.

We arrived at to a warm welcome from Guillermo, smiling and so friendly. He gave us binoculars to use, an overview of the park and information on the monkeys, birds and trees we would see and hear. We then started off on the trail while Guillermo prepared us breakfast. Oh my goodness, we saw more than 30 monkeys (both capuchin and howler),some with babies, many different birds and insects, huge 300 year old trees and so much more. Just the sound in this place was great as well. Many interesting bird sounds but the most fun to listen to was the roar of the howler monkeys which could sound a bit scary yet awesome. We would just stop and listen and record the sounds at times. Near the end of the trail Guillermo came in the forest to get us to tell us the monkeys were at the entrance eating bananas. We went back and just watched as the monkeys climbed down the trees took bananas and climbed back up to eat them. There were many great things but my favorite was definitely watching the monkeys jumping from tree to tree, watching the mothers with their babies and little ones being silly.

To end our visit Guillermo had a traditional Costa Rican breakfast prepared for us. He showed us how to make tortillas and we got to make our own for breakfast.

I can’t say enough about this place. Guillermo’s amazing hospitality and getting to see so many wild monkeys in their natural habitat was definitely the highlight of my La Fortuna trip. We also met the owner son Alonzo who was warm and welcoming as well.

Thank you Monkey Park for a great visit.

I visited Costa Rica as a birthday present and had an unforgettable experience. Came across Monkey Park since we stayed probably 2 miles down the road and decided to check it out. Met Guillermo, our guide, and he had exceptional service! He prepared yuca, plantain dishes, and we even got to pick yuca from the ground! Also, Guillermo cut fresh pipa from the tree for a refreshing treat! It was a pleasure spending time seeing the animals, tasting Costa Rican food, and even having Guillermo becoming our great friend! I would come back here in a heartbeat; lovely park and staff. I miss it already!
Pura vida!

Guillermo, the owner of this park is incredible. Our guide, Dani (+506 8803 7267 on WhatsApp) brought us here. I originally did not want to visit here when our guide suggested it, as the word "park" really dissuaded me and I was expecting enclosures or a populated tourist area, but I am SO grateful I checked it out. First of all, it's not what I would describe as a park. It's open land including both farm and forest. Upon arriving we immediately saw birds of prey hunting lizards in the fields, white face capuchins were watching us from the entrance to the forest, howler monkeys, "blue jean" poison frogs everywhere, lots of interesting insects as well as tree frogs and their eggs. Immediately Guillermo cut us open some coconuts to enjoy while he began prepping our food. With Guillermo's help, we hand prepared delicious food picked straight from his fields. Through the whole process he taught us how to cook and prepare yucca as well as information about farming it. The meal was one of the best we had in our 11 day stay, and our guide filmed us cooking it. The walk through the forest is filled with wildlife, from the delightful leaf cutter ants hard at work to the monkeys howling above. Overall we were treated with open arms, and Guillermo is a very passionate man. He gave us two little souvenirs at the end and memories we will never forget!

We went here not sure what to expect. Guillermo greeted us with a smile, and schooled us on yuca (we pulled one straight from the soil), and the native wild life. He taught us how to prepare yuca in the kitchen.
He was able to find blue Jean frogs, red eye frogs and fed us some termites (taste like carrot). We continued through the walk on our own and spotted monkeys, and quati. After the hike Guillermo had some delicious yuca snackes prepared. After some pleasant conversation, Guillermo took us around, and showed us more of the grounds...and let us taste his fresh pepper berries, cocoa, and dared us to try some his hot peppers.
He even set up a great sunset cruz on the lake to view arenal at sunset.
Guillermo made the entire visit to monkey park memorable, and let us know where all the good local spots were. Thank you so much Guillermo!

We had such a fantastic day at Monkey Park.

When we arrived at the park we were met by Guillermo who had us harvest some yuca which he later used to make us the most delicious lunch. But before lunch my husband and I had a lovely 2 hour walk through the Forest during which time we saw some monkeys, numerous birds and the most productive ants. I loved every minute of the walk, what with the sounds of howlers and the smell of the Forest, how could we not.

When our walk was done we enjoyed a super lunch and even better conversation with Guillermo, who shared information and stories about Costa Rico, its food and people.

I highly recommend The Monkey Park as a fun destination while visiting Costa Rica.

We came here looking for monkeys, and left with a new friend, full bellies and a wealth of knowledge about life in Costa Rica, wildlife, farming and even a cooking lesson. Oh yes, we saw monkeys too. What made this so special was our host, Guillermo. Guillermo is the consummate host, making us feel like family from the moment we arrived. We explored together, cooked together and shared a meal. Definitely a taste of the Pura Vida. Lucky for us, we had Guillermo to ourselves, but it makes me sad to think how many people are missing out of this wonderful place. Go see our amigo Guillermo.

Amazing experience and place! 💯🙏🏻
Guillermo was an incredible host. He showed us the plantations and cooked us a lot of local fruits and vegetables following local recipes.
We were also able to see lots of animals (monkeys, birds, frogs, reptiles...) and beautiful plants and trees (one was 300 years old!).
I recommend it to everyone who wants to live an immersive local experience and discover more about this beautiful country. Pura Vida!

We went here to see monkeys in their natural habitat without cages and fences, we were NOT disappointed! The park is run by Guillermo, who is an amazing guide and took the time to show us around and teach us many interesting facts about the forest and the animals. At the end he even cooked for us using Ingredients that are grown on site. It was an amazing experience and the best hospitality I have experienced at any attraction in Costa Rica! We were the only two people there when we visited mid-week, I can’t believe this place isn’t overrun with tourists but it will be as word spreads so put it on your list now!

On our last day in La Fortuna we found a sing while driving back to San Jose and gave it a shot since we were missing to see Monkeys. We’re very happy with the whole experience, from the very welcoming treatment by Guillermo, to the nice walk to the property accompanied by Gabriel who is very amicable, to the unexpected food at the end. We saw Monkeys (not as many or as close as we wanted to), Tucan, huge trees, and a few other birds.

The best part was that we feel like a family, Guillermo and Gabriel are a great TEAM!
