A great place to visit and explore. The history of the churches and streets of Oaxaca give you a sense of the struggle of the people who have overcome occupations to survive as a vibrant culture with a proud heritage.
Yes, this is the Cathedral for Oaxaca but it just is not as special to us as so many other churches in the city. It is located adjacent to the Zocolo and is in daily use.
I always try to stop by when in area for some peace that is easily found in this church, that sits square in the middle of all Oaxaca’s hustle and bustle
Catedral de Oaxaca, while not as impressive as Santo Domingo, is still worth a look inside for some stained glass works and the elaborate altar area. It’s unmissable as it’s the meeting point of walking tours and located at the center of town.
Better outside than inside, a bit disappointing after Santo Domingo, dark and not so beautiful inside
