The Juárez is one of the important historic theaters in all of Mexico, and has hosted famous conductors including Karajan, Bernstein, and Muti. The acoustic is a bit dry but the architecture is stunning. Make sure to see a performance here while visiting Guanajuato.
This place is a nice place to hang out outside.. if you go inside the price is 25 pesos I believe but if you buy it together with the museum the price is 50 pesos for both.. saving you 10 pesos.. the stories are entertaining...More
Teatro Juarez was a nice spot to hand out as a group and by yourself. The theater looks elegant and very well maintained. I was not lucky enough to attend any theater event, thus cannot provide any feedback on that.
We weren’t aware of the terrific theater scene in Guanajuato. Sadly there were several shows we would have loved to have seen, but they were unfortunately sold out. So, check out what’s playing here and the other theaters around town and get tickets in advance!
Guanajuato is full of historical places and definitely you have to visit the Theater. Is brief tour, reasonable admission price, its free for students with Id. Our tour guy did an excellent job, he answered all the questions, he explained every single detail, it was...More

Make sure you take the tour, lots of history around why, who and how Guanajuato and the theatre was built. Tour takes around 25 mins, you go inside the theatre and the second level, you can take a nice photo at the theatre Bar.
It's an impressive looking building. We went a guided tour which was offered only in Spanish. It was NOT particularly well done. The guide was giving all kinds of extraneous, uninteresting information. I would say less than 1/2 of the tour was about the theatre....More

You can find many events advertised on the Teatro Juárez Facebook page (search for "teatro juárez guanajuato facebook"), but my impression is that not all performances are advertised. If you will be in Guanajuato during the Cervantino International Arts Festival (October 10-28, 2018) you can find listings at the Cervantino web site (search for "cervantino 2018") to find a web site with festivalcervantino.gob.mx in the address. Just browse through the performances looking for Teatro Juárez. Don't be discouraged if the Cervantino performances are sold out--we showed up an hour early in front of the theater seeking tickets for Concerto Köln from people in the crowd and ran into a student who gave his extra tickets to us for free! The Mexican people are very very friendly and generous. It was a wonderful experience. You could also try calling the box office (if you speak some Spanish) at +52 473 732 2521. Have a wonderful visit!
