A beautiful dune but as others have said it had the dubious benefit of having easy access to the road and a car park. It can get really busy early in the day. Climbing the soft sand is not easy on a hot day and...More

Best to undertake this climb in early morning as the heat is crippling as the day goes on. Most people are out of the park by 11.00 which says it all. Needless to say it was worth the effort, a job to stand up with...More

The views from the top were spectacular. This is a fairly challenging climb if the wind is blowing! Well worth the effort though.

Dune 45 is one of thousands of dunes. The only thing special is that is has a name and a parking lot. If you want to hike up the spine of this dune with about 200 of your closest friends, go for it. It is...More

Love this place. So many beautiful dunes in the area. Many are numbered and a few have names. Morning light is great casting shadows and magnificent color variations. Well worth the time to drive out to take in the desert beauty.

This was fun, but too tough for me to get to the top in the time available. It was quite windy too. Ten years ago I might have made it, but knee and hip issues don't mix well with climbing soft sand.

Absolutely stunning! Managed to get sunset on the dune! Although the wind was challenging, the colours and setting were beautiful! A photographer's dream!

What do you mean? It is 3 hours on dirt roads from Windhoek or Walvis Bay, but once inside to national Park the main road is sealed. The Dune itself is just of the sealed road and takes about 1000 - 1200 steps in the sand to... More
