This was our 14 yr old request and after a bit of homework we thought we’d all enjoy it so made the trip by public transport ( easy). A beautiful walk through the picturesque town of werfen - and up to the castle - steep...More

You pay 16.50 euro to get into the castle grounds but then to actually get inside the castle you have to pay again to go on a tour and rent an audio guide. So it ends up being 22 euro which is crazy for what...More

Visited Hohenwerfen en route to Zell Am See, by taking the funicular. An interesting walk through with some imposing view from the bell tower.

Didn't take the tour, but the Falconry demonstration was really enjoyable. The DaVinci exhibit was very interesting. Enjoyed the visit. Interesting that the castle didn't seem as massive as it did in the movie.

There was a good deal of thought gone into entertaining everyone. Falconry show, Da Vinci and Where Eagles Dare exhibitions were very decent.

When we were driving to our hotel in Maria Alm, my wife saw the fortress from the highway and mentioned it to me. We received the "Hochkonig" card, which gave us a discount to see the Hohenwerfen Castle. It was a beautiful castle where we...More

A well preserved stunning castle in beautiful landscape. Access is via a funicular railway or on foot but its a steep climb so beware. On reaching the courtyard it's a little confusing where everything is but just take a wander. You can stroll around the...More

Drove past this castle about 10 years ago and vowed I would visit. Instantly recognisable as the Schloss Adler from the movie Where Eagles dare, it’s a picture postcard castle in an idyllic setting. Though only the externals were used in the move, it’s still...More
