The monastery is amazing. The intricate frescoes and giant statues are certainly a surprise in the rather rustic surroundings. Worth a stop if you are coming through the area.

Absolutely amazing how over time we can still see the intricate artwork and sculptures of Buddhist Deities. Quite different to elsewhere. So a real must visit this incredible sacred Buddhist site

Our tourist taxi dropped us off very close to the Alchi monastery. It is a protected monument and sacred ground. Also the road to the monastery is narrow. So a small walk is required to reach the monastery. Hope you will... More
