Wonderful old fortified village with mostly local people carrying out everyday tasks and tourist accommodation kept to the scruffier lower town. A gem and easy to reach 20 mins on the bus from Thera town to Perissera. The Old Barber cafe great place inside the...More

Lovely Santorini town - lots of little alleyways to explore. All in traditional Santorini style - a lovely place to visit rather than the main tourist attractions of Thira and Oia.

Amazing sunset views? Not really. Famous landmarks? None. Stunning coastline? Nope. In fact, it’s hard to explain what makes Emporio so lovely, but if I had to sum it up in one word it would be ‘charm’. The more modern part of the town at...More

We felt that Emporio was the nicest of the traditional villages on the island. The narrow winding sreets are a throwback to gentler times, beautiful buildings as well as the church and castle. Well worth a visit.

Emporio was recommended to us to as an example of a well kept Santorinian village. The castle isn't really a castle - more a collection of small quiant houses, and narrow passages. If you like taking photographs, this is for you.

Through the narrow paths of a medieval village ... admiring doors, windows and walls of an ancient castle ... under a crazy sunsetting sky

To see how local people lived 50 or 100 years ago. Nothing has changed - curvy clean and narrow streets, white and yellow houses, small front doors, churches and a half-destroyed Venetian tower. Take a break at Vassili's restaurant 'The Old barber' or Vangelli's café...More

Take my advice.... don’t just go to see the Castelli, stroll around the myriad alleyways of this lovely traditional village. It’s fab, great for photography and gives a great flavour of Santorini village life.

Our second visit to this lovely place, not to be missed, plenty of history and sometimes if you are lucky you can get a glimpse of the little homes up the steps....don't miss this but make the trip on your own steam, the tours are...More

After visiting almost any possible place in Santorini, we got to here too. OK but not worth a special visit. If you are there, go and see it.

The best thing to do is go to the Bus Station in Fira, and ask them what time the next bus goes to Emporio, and the Bus number. Check how often the bus runs from Fira, and again for coming back. They will give you a... More
