Stayed at the Paradise Beach Resort for 2 weeks. Found the staff very friendly and accommodating. Christopher the event coordinator was always available and willing to help us arrange transportation and rentals (cabs, cars etc.). Danilo (Danny) at the bar was very friendly and became more of a freind than a bar tender. The Island of Roatan was very beautiful and friendly. Will return with out hesitation.

Roatan was our first island stop on our Western Caribbean cruise. West Bay beach came highly recommended from other cruisers who have been on the beach. Said the beach is beautiful, clear and lots of water activities. And they were correct! We didn't go thru the ship for this beach excursion, when we got off the ship, there were lots of vendors who offered to take you to places for cheaper. The beach from the port was about a 20 mins drive. The tour guide we had was from the island and she was very nice and told us about the island and history. She even stayed with us on the beach and made sure we were well taken care of. There was a fee for the beach if you wanted a chair, access to bathroom and wifi. It was approximately $15/pp. The water was clear, you can see some school of fishes swimming around. There were plenty of water activities from sea-doo to snorkeling to clear bottom boat tours. The tour guide had told us about 2 kinds of coconuts, the green ones which we see all the time and there are yellow ones which are better, so we got one of each on the beach to try. Definitely the yellow coconut did taste sweeter.

The downside about this beach... you have the locals that come hover around you the moment you step foot onto the beach and asking if you want a massage or if you want your hair braided or water activities or food and drinks or t-shirts and bracelets. Don't get me wrong, I totally understand it's their job but when you're constantly being asked the same thing every 5 mins while you're trying to relax and enjoy the beach, it can get annoying at times. Having said all that, we did end up purchasing t-shirts, the fruits they were selling and hair braided to help support them. Make sure you have exact change, as they will say they have no change and keep your money.

Overall, we did enjoy the beach and the experience it taught on my teenagers on how the locals lived and work for their money...how privileged they were to have so much. I would recommend checking out this beach as long as you don't mind the locals every so often asking you to purchase their services or products.

Yes we were staying in first time AB&B beachfront house near West End and my wife missed the resort feeling.
We paid a daily fee to use the facilities. Mainly hang around the pool, bar & a tremendous seafood grill platter by the beach.
The beach was beautiful although short with loads of activity

I booked a day pass through a third party and was very happy with the price, the service and the outcome. I was on a cruise ship and booked this day pass independently because the operator ook care of the shuttle to and from the resort; and as explained I could choose a dish from their menu (photo attached) and a drink. This was all pre-explained in my booking. The upside was, the beautiful location, easy access to snorkelling for all depths and shaded beach chairs. The pool is also for day pass use and it was very clean. The only challenge (and it is a minor point), is getting out of the cruise ship terminal area, to cross the road to find your booking operator. There seems to be hundreds of vendors in the same position, so it may seem very busy. That was the only time I felt any uncertainty but it was literally short lived (60 seconds max). The end game really for me was the snorkelling. Lots of comparable resorts are in the same location but Paradise Beach just made the whole experience the best.

We rented a car and drove to paradise Beach club. Paid $20/pp to get in and were told that the price includes a beach chair and umbrella. When we walked out on the beach we were in shock - the beach was PACKED. People in the water were literally rubbing elbows and the water was murky from all the sunscreen residue. It was disgusting! But since we had already paid, we figured we could lay down for a while... well there were no beach chairs or umbrellas available. We spoke to a few attendants and they said that we could rent a beach umbrella for additional payment. They were out of the “regular” umbrellas. Meanwhile the whole front row of chairs and umbrellas was empty. I asked why we can’t use those, they stated that those were saved for hotel guests only. We stood in the scorching sun for 20 minutes, trying to get them to give us an umbrella as promised but they wouldn’t. The beach vendors kept walking by and harassing us to buy something or get a massage. I just wanted to leave since there was nowhere for us to lay down. We went back to the gate where they took our money and explained the situation and suddenly everyone wasn’t so nice anymore... Olga that was sitting at the gate refused to even look at us, she told another guy in Spanish, that we wouldn’t get our money back. While we’re standing at the gate, they’re bringing in more and more tourists, charging everyone $20/pp for same lie they sold us. Very disappointed, I thought this was a reputable hotel but it turned out to be a scam place. Anyway, the beaches are so packed there that you’re better off driving to a remote beach that you can have all to yourself for FREE, that’s what we did! Don’t let the locals trap you into going to west bay or west end, all those beaches are packed with tourists and full of vendors. The real nice beaches are the ones that the locals tell you not to go to, because they all get a cut from sending you to those beach clubs!

Awesome beach and clear blue water, great to snorkel or dive, reef is just feet off the beach with beautiful coral and fish species. Many activities along the beach, great place for adult beverages or just soak up the sun.

We took a cab to west bay. The round trip cost $80, which seemed excessive. The cab driver said he knew “a good place” and I gave my husband warning glances that I thought he was going to send us somewhere that benefitted him. Lo and behold he brought us to paradise and said what a good deal it was... $20 per person. As he walked us in I asked what we got for $20 per person. They said beach chairs and towels and umbrella. We walked out to the beach and they ushered us to the side of all the chairs with shade and set up new chairs. They gave us chairs that was quickly surrounded by newcomers. No towels, no umbrella. Barely space to walk to the beach a few rows up. Then the sellers on the beach were so persistent, they even approached our kids when we said no thanks- and though there was security it was clear they had their own sellers allowed and shunned others. we did a snorkel for another $80 and that was really not worth it either.... nothing seemed alive. We still bought beers and used the bathroom once. Everyone else on the cruise ship raved at their Roatan experience, we felt like dumb first timers and hoped all the money we spent really is going to help the local economy. Beware when you go to Roatan, have your destination picked out in advance so you get the experience you are looking for. We had great experiences in all the other ports we went to.
