About the operator

- Curiosity554881399820 contributionsAbsolutely REAL!This is the only Mekong tour you need you to look at. My partner and I were put off touring the Mekong due to reviews of other tours that said the experience was just about selling stuff to tourists. We found this tour, and Hien was able to accommodate us despite booking the night before. This tour stands out as one of, if not the best day of our three week trip. Hien is a Mekong local, and is extremely knowledgeable of the culture and industry of the area. Our experiences being taken on scooters around the village, learning about southern Vietnamese agriculture, and eating a home cooked meal (SO delicious) at a table overlooking a rice field will be cherished memories forever. Places like the wet market and coconut candy making area could absolutely feel like tourist traps, but with Hien by our sides, we were not solicited in any way. The wet market was a surprising highlight. Drinking a coffee (included in the tour) while seeing the locals do business and learning about the daily importance of the market, both economically and socially, was so much fun! I could not recommend this tour, or Hien, any more highly. It's worth every cent, Hien is the man!Written January 9, 2025
- karoldN3436XT0 contributionsActual BEST local experience everAbsolutely amazing experience. After seeing historical and religious parts of city and outskirts we booked this trip to checkout Mekong river. What we got was more than we expected. This is TRUE local market, farms, families and on top of that there is Mekong river. This is the trip you take if you want to interact with locals.Written January 5, 2025
- Laura B0 contributionsGreat tour companyBooked 2x1 day tours, Mekong delta and Ch Chi Tunnels. Both were great. The scooter ride around the rice fields was amazing. Lunch at the family home, delicious. You will have some fun here with the owner who treats you to some of his special shots, of which he has jars of all sorts pickling away. Our guides on both days were great. So glad I found this company.Written November 27, 2024

- paulosswald0 contributionsBeautiful and eventful trip off the beaten path - 10/10We had an amazing time on our tour with David! This tour fulfills all of its promises and takes you through off the beaten path regions of the Mekong delta where you see the nature and how people live without the hustle and bustle of other tourists and buses. David did a great job of sharing the details and insights of the places we visited but also the history of the region. He answered all our questions and gave us some helpful tips for the next couple days in HCMC. It was worth every penny and we would recommend this tour to anyone who is not a huge fan of mass tourism where buses full of tourists are shuttled around for a day. Thank you David and the Real Mekong Delta Tours team for this unforgettable experience! Best regards, Paul & NadjaWritten May 18, 2024
- nicolebH3055PS0 contributionsMekong Delta Family TourOur family had a wonderful time touring the Mekong delta river with Mr. Hien as our guide! We were picked up at our hotel in Saigon in the morning and drove down to the boat station where we were greeted with our private boat. The boat was very clean, spacious, and comfortable. We were also served fresh coconut juice/water on the boat…Refreshing! We arrived to the coconut island and learned a lot about the different coconut processes/products, enjoyed some fruit, and live entertainment from the locals. It was a very nice place and everyone was very friendly and kind. We then took the row boats through the canal, which was very safe and fun. My toddler enjoyed it as well! Then we headed to lunch at a local family’s home before heading back to our hotel. It was delicious! Mr. Hien did an excellent job teaching us about the river, the island, and so much more. Mr. Hien treated us like family and made our experience a very positive, enjoyable, and memorable one! Highly recommend!Written May 15, 2024
- 276sabinem0 contributionsBest 4 days Mekong Delta TourIf you want to see the real Mekong Delta you have to do a tour about 3 or 4 days. It is very authentic and not touristic. You will see wonderful and interesting places. You travel in a comfortable SUV. Our driver Tom was a very good and safety driver. Our guide Jerry was fantastic as a person and about his knowledge. It was a very special tour and we absolutely can recommend this tour. Its a must do if you want to see the Mekong Delta. Real Mekong Delta Tours is the perfect touroperator for this. All the best for the team. SabineWritten April 24, 2024

- 775calumd0 contributionsMekong Delta Full DayI looked at a lot of reviews of the main Mekong Delta tours and found that they were unauthentic tourist traps. After some research, I came across Mekong Delta Tours and reached out to Hien and booked this tour. His communication from the original contact up until the day of the tour was great, with him checking our food preferences and finding out what we wanted to get from the tour. On the day of the tour our guide, Jerry, arrived nice and early in a very comfortable minibus. He was friendly, knowledgeable and entertaining and made us feel relaxed all through the trip. We were taken to a wet market, a Cao Dai temple, on scooters through Paddy fields and to a local family's home for lunch (sooooo much food, which was delicious). They will also serve you lots (or none if preferred) of their homemade wines. After that we went on a boat to Ben Tre District and on a Sampan Boat through the coconut trees, and on to a coconut candy factory. Would 100% recommend paying the extra for a real experience like this.Written March 18, 2024
- rositaordonez0 contributionsGreat Mekong Delta tour without the crowds!Back in 2018, my husband and I explored the Mekong Delta region with Real Mekong Delta Tours. We had such a great time so we decided to book another Mekong Delta tour with them again in 2024 when we visited Saigon with our friend. We reached out to Mr. Hien via email - he was quick to respond, very friendly, and helped us schedule our tour. The morning of our tour, Tri (our tour guide) picked us up right on time. He was very nice and personable, we loved spending the day with him and he taught us so much about the rich culture of the Mekong Delta area. We had a great time and loved the authenticity of the tour. For most of the tour, we didn’t see any other tourists, just locals going about their daily lives. We only saw other tourists when we went on the river cruise because there is only one port where the boats can depart. Even though this part was in the “touristy” area, we had our own boat and went down a different channel of the river where no one else was so it was very peaceful. Lunch was delicious and served in a local home where we were also able to try some homemade rice wines and fermented shrimp with Mr. Hien. From the home, we went on a scooter ride through the rice fields - the rice had turned a golden color and we were able to watch the locals harvesting the rice. We felt very safe on the back of the bikes and loved seeing the beautiful scenery along the ride. We were also able to taste the difference between pink and white dragonfruits at the dragonfruit farm, which also had some of the best corn I’ve ever tasted. These were some of the highlights of the tour for me, but we did much more and I loved every bit of it. I highly recommend this company if looking for a local and authentic experience in the Mekong Delta. It might seem expensive upfront but it is well worth the cost. We can’t wait to come back for a multi day tour with them.Written February 28, 2024
- tuklaentertaimentp0 contributionsGreatfull journey to dream from childhoodThis tour has exceeded our expectations. We were able to touch rural side of Vietnam. Being from Nothern Europe everything caught by our eyes was exotic for us. We saw such a Vietnam that was in our vision since childhood times. Special thanks to Hien and his team, who arranged this incredible journey for us. Highly recommend to those who have limited stay in Ho Chi Minh. It's worth this moneyWritten February 18, 2024

It was wonderful to be taken off the tourist track to see and learn about the rice paddies, have lunch and homemade wine with a lovely local family, visit turtle island and much more. The highlight for me waa definitely the Sampan ride in the canals. So peaceful. Our guide was flexible and accommodating. Would recommend this tour.Written January 5, 2024
- KLinds0805030 contributionsBrilliant - a must do in Vietnam!I cannot rate this trip highly enough - so good! As a family of 5 with boys aged 11, 12 and 15, we had done a few tours in Thailand and Cambodia before this one and this 1 day tour is the only one they actually really loved. We saw no tourists, and felt we saw the real Vietnam. Enough said! So many highlights … but it was not just that our guide, Duc was awesome in every way, but the lunch was also so delicious ( a true taste of real Vietnamese food but familiar too - our kids loved everything), the scooter ride was terrific and the coconut candy factory was very interesting. It’s a big day with a 1.5 hr travel time each way but everything you see and do is so incredibly insightful into Vietnamese culture, that it’s just a brilliant way to experience Vietnam! Book this tour!!Written September 24, 2023
