About the operator
- Milesaway100A great introduction to Ancient Egypt. This was an essential part of our tour before visiting the Giza Pyramids and it did not disappoint. Our guide was knowledgeable the vehicle clean and the driver able. Saqqara is one of the richest archaeological sites in the country - its monuments span 3ooo years. We were able to enter the Red Pyramid via a passage on its north face down a long shaft of about 150 steps. An amazing thing to do. We enjoyed Dahshur and the Mortuary Temple complex relatively free of the vast crowds experienced elsewhere . Memphis was excellent and so was the lunch! All in all we had a great introduction to Ancient Egypt.
- raybC6347TW00Email Abuse after the TripDO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! The owner Ayman sends me 50 emails a week demanding more money and/or a 5-star review, whilst calling me "an animal" in the process! This is years after the trip BTW! You might have a nice tour, but the abuse you get afterwards is off the chart!!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!
- ehowerzyle00Do not book, there is a scamDo not book with this company. There is a scam that asks you to transfer money after 3 years Imo company steals customers
- rgarciamurgar00They steal the bank cardDo not book with this company, they photocopy your bank card and steal your money Be careful and I recommend booking your tour with another company
- davidgar026123100Crème de La Crème experienceAmgie (tour guide) and Hossam (private driver) have been great at providing such a beautiful experience for me in Egypt. I felt very well taken care of and felt at home with these two. The locations I went to were sooo so beautiful and breath taking. My favorite part was Karnak and Valley of the Kings! It felt like a movie in all these locations! Overall, I am truly 100% satisfied and will definitely come back to Egypt! Thank you Amgie and Hossam!
- kyliecH4121UO00Amazing Tour to Giza, Saqqara, Dahshur and MemphisSayed was our guide for the day tour and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with him. He knew a lot about Egyptian history, spoke good English, and got such a good vibe! For the tour part, we saw all the big pyramids in Giza, Saqqara and Dashur. We chose not to go inside the big pyramids, as I’m not comfortable with places with not enough oxygen. But as recommended by Sayed, we did go inside the Pyramid of Teti in Saqqara, which was much smaller but very beautiful with a lot of detailed carvings. The other tombs in Saqqara were worth a visit too. Definitely the best choice for tours around Cairo!
- 670karenw00Not to be missedYou can’t miss this! Stunning light show - don’t be put off by rubbish in Giza, the Pyramids and show are clean and watch out for staff taking photos-they’ll want a tip but they do take great photos so worth it. Sit in front row and pay extra.
- williamap00Essam, the best guide of Emo Egypt ToursEssam was a great guide. Enjoyed the whole day tour. He explained the relevance of all the spots. Help us take excellent pictures like a pro photographer. Told us stories and histories. Very detailed and always concerned about us and our safety. Worth the value and more. Lunch was also great. Driver Mohammed was also very pollite and helpful. Will ask for him again when using Emo Tours. Highly recommended!

- anelissei202300Great tour with Somaya!!Amazing tour! We learned a lot about Ancient Egypt and our tour guide, Somaya, was super nice and knowledgeable. She took great care of us from start to finish! We made memories that will last a lifetime! Thank you, Somaya!
- Jbirdy6800AMAZING PROFESSIONALSOur family booked a complete tour in Egypt, including Nile cruise, airfare, hotel, tours many months ago. Torky at Emo Tours provided expert assistance and was able to book us an ideal vacation. Unfortunately, with the unrest in neighboring countries, our family did not feel comfortable traveling in the region, so we regrettably canceled with about 45 days until our departure. After contacting Torky.with our decision to cancel, he was able to cancel our booked itinerary and were promptly credited back on our credit card all but 6% of the amount we paid, which had been clearly outlined as a predetermined cancellation fee in our travel contract. I am sure that not many companies would honor the agreement and respond as quickly as Torky and Emo did. We are very grateful that Emo honored their contract without complaint. Needless to say, we will be calling on Emo and Torky to assist us with Egypt travel when the political situation in the region settles down. We cannot recommend this company enough for their professionalism and for honoring a contract in what must be a very difficult time for them to do so.
- Suheni00Good value but say no to the unadvertised extra stopsWe booked the tour as a private party of 9, the car and the guide only. Overall, it was a good tour, not very good, but good. We started with the pyramids and sphinx, which felt very rushed tbh. I think we spent less than 30 minutes up close to the pyramids, which I am really regretful about. Then we drove away for a panoramic view and camel ride. The camel ride, was about $10 for 30 minutes and was the highlight. Our guide Ehab, wasn't keen on us stopping to get close to the Sphinx, and only did so as we pushed for it. After this we stopped for a 'coffee' at a local perfume factory, which was a hard sell and complete waste of 45 minutes I will never get back. No rush here from the guide, interestingly enough, and not advertised as part of the tour. We then stopped for lunch at a local buffet, good value, good food, nice vibe (we paid separately for this, approx $8-9 pp). After we went on to Memphis and Saqqara. Memphis museum was grand and interesting, many artefacts. Second largest sphinx in Egypt is there. Saqqara was beautiful in the late afternoon. We went inside the pyramid here, not for the claustrophobes among us, narrow tunnels and rooms. Nothing to see so much, once you've done it, you wouldn't need to do it again. On route home, I told the guide we wanted to go straight to the hotel, but he said the papyrus shop was en route as was the Egyptian cotton shop. The papyrus was ok, still more expensive than others we visited later in our travels. The cotton shop was another waste of time. They were not en route to our hotel. I would advise Emo Tours as great value, but not so great with the additions, that I would have declined had I been asked, and actually did try and decline, but was fobbed off. Definitely tell them ahead of time not to stop at these extras as I think they're hard sells, over inflated prices and cut in to your actual tour time, when you could be enjoying the sights.

An experience not to forget…extremely late pickup, no seatbelts with very fast speeds once past the endless traffic. Tours were done at breakneck speed and lack of any useful information about any of the sites. To make up time, the tour guide practically ran through sites…barely looking back to see if we were keeping up. I could have given better tours by reading Wikipedia. Completely lack of interest in talking with us or about the tour sites. The tour says water is included…but none was provided and even at lunch (we had purchased all inclusive), the tour guide said drinks were not included…we bought a single small bottle of water that ended up costing about $10. That we survived this tour in one piece was a miracle. Do not recommend at all. Not sure where these 5 star reviews come from…this should be removed from trip advisor completely and given a negative rating.

I initially booked a private tour weeks in advance. The night before the tour I was advised they could no longer do private tours (too many guests, not enough guides) and offered a refund and no tour or I could join a group tour. The group tour offered an initial 20% refund which was a joke because group tours were up to 50% less than private tours. I eventually received 50% of my money back, but only after demanding it by the end of the tour after how the day went (see below).
I opted to go on the group tour because it was my last day in the country and really wanted to see the city (note that the library is not open every day). I confirmed three times with company staff, including the driver, that we would return by 7PM and that I had an international flight to catch (I needed to leave by 9PM, giving myself a two hour extra window).
I was told I would be picked up by 8AM. I waited outside my hotel until 815AM before contacting the company if the driver was coming. At 830 the driver (who has been in his car the entire time) finally decided to get out of the car and come look at me. He didn't speak any English which was fine but he also made no attempt to be welcoming. He put me in the car where I then sat there for nearly an hour with no explanation before other guests finally arrived. There ended being nearly 20 people on the tour.
We sat in silence on the way to Alexandria (2.5 hour drive) before picking up our guide and finally given any directions. By then it was 12PM (they advertise arriving in the city by 10AM). The guide was nice enough and we went around to some of the locations advertised. Traffic was so bad in the city it would've been easier just to walk from location to location than sit in the bus for nearly an hour only to then have 15/20 mins at each stop.
By 3PM we had not even seen half the sites and it became apparent we would not be returning by 7PM. I told the guide this who didn't seemed bothered that I was worried I would miss my flight. It was only after I messaged the company again on WhatsApp that they said they'd do their best. Unfortunately I really could enjoy the rest of the tour because I was stressed out - the day kept getting later and later. It was really disappointing because I would've love spending time at the library - it was absolutely stunning and worth seeing.
The remainder of the trip was rushed. The dinner was not worth the money, nor were the charges for the entrance fees the company charged. We arrived back at 850PM. The driver did not return to my hotel, instead he parked across a 6-8 lane motorway down the street and told me to get off. Not only did I then have to navigate and get over the other side of the street myself (incredibly dangerous), but the driver grabbed me and yelled at me, demanding a tip. Incredibly unprofessional and really disappointing way to spend my last day in the country.

The trip was good, I booked the guided tour from Cairo. My driver picked me up in the lobby of my hotel and arrived early. We left at 7am and arrived in Alexandria around 9:45am. The drive was good although I was a little confused as He didnt speak english and I was thinking maybe there was a mistake and this was the wrong tour for most of the drive, i was relieved when we arrived in Alexandria and finally met the english speaking guide. It makes sense in hindsight that the guide would be located in Alex, but would have been nice to know in advance).
My Guide was a very friendly woman who was knowledgeable about the sites and provided great insight into each.
We first stopped at the catacombs which are very interesting and feature some cool art.
Next we stopped at the roman amphitheater and ruins of Roman baths and cisterns. The amputee was great and i cannot recommend enough that you stand on the central stone and experience the echo inside.
After that, we went to see the Library of Alexandria which was unfortunately closed as I visited on Friday during the muslim observed weekend. While the outside of the new library is lovely, it was about a 5 minute stop which was not worth the traffic around the library.
After that we went to the final site in Alexandria, The Citadel on Pharos island (where the old lighthouse once stood. Amazing views of the Mediterranean and city of Alexandria can be had from this space. It was packed by the time we arrived, so I would suggest to the tour group to push that to the top of the list to avoid crowds.
At this point my guide suggested an ice cream cone which was truly delicious and rounded out the day in the hot weather very nicely.
Then began our drive back. Traffic in cairo is rough in the afternoon so I recommend a bathroom break before arriving in the city traffic.
All in all, Alexandria is a lovely cosmopolitan city worth the visit, although I felt as if the guided tour wasn't really necessary. I wish I could have had more time to explore along the Mediterranean and stopped for lunch or a coffee.

Our pickup from Cairo felt luxurious with our driver in a suit and a comfortable car. We were able to nap all the way to Alexandria, with one small break for drinks/WC.
We met our tour guide at Alexandria. We had a great time with our guide Rania (sorry I missed to ask how to spell it). We especially liked how she shared her personal views of life in Egypt across the years with the different regimes, it gave us a unique insight into life in the country. At some point, we had to wait for another couple to join us on a part of the tour and our guide bought us some famous Alexandrian ice cream!
We paid for the lunch ahead of time and it was delicious at a restaurant with a beautiful view (drinks not included, but that's standard from all our tours in Egypt). The seafood was very fresh, though people who are not used to eating an entire fish might struggled with the bones. Overall a great experience.

Really interesting trip. The catacombs were fascinating and city fort was amazing. With both those sites, as well as the Temple and the New Great Library, you could feel yourself moving through the timeline of history. The hustle and bustle of the current inhabitants, going about their daily business really provides a sense of how old Alexandria is and how life moves along, irrespective of kings and princes and politics. Our guide, Sayed, was knowledgeable and paced the tour well. Our driver, also Sayed, was wonderful, as he moved our lovely new vehicle down narrow, busy streets (half the time I didn't think he would make it with the car undamaged). It was a great day trip from Cairo.

The experience was amazing!! Our tour guide Eslam did a phenomenal job at explaining the history of Alexandria as he grew up there. He was detailed and knew so much backstory on different monuments. The restaurant we went to was great as well Fish Market. We recommend adding clams it was well seasoned with a view of the Mediterranean Sea! I recommend this excursion for people looking to dive into the history of Alexandria and see amazing things! The driver was also amazing he was on time and make us laugh during the car ride.
Thanks Eslam and the team

Some others have written that there wasn't much to see in Alexandria, and it does not top places like Luxor, Giza, and Cairo. My family and I agree with this. It's a nearly 3-hour drive from Cairo, and I would say the most interesting place we visited was the Alexandria Library. Make sure you check what days/times the library is open before you go. We were able to go in right before it closed for the day. I also like the idea that I've been to the place where one of the world's wonders used to stand (the lighthouse, which is now the Citadel).
Additionally, our tour guide, Zafi or Zadi, I can't quite remember his name, was not great compared to the other guides we've had in Egypt. He was an older gentleman who was nice but did not seem to know much about Alexandria. It seemed to us he was just reading the informational signs. I do have to say he took us to a great seafood restaurant that was filled with local people. It was probably one of the best meals I had in Egypt.

Our tour Guide Eriny gets a 5 out of 5, but our driver gets a 2 or 3 stars.
Eriny was very knowledgeable and very helpful with watching our 17 month old son when we wanted to see something on our tour. Be mindful if you are traveling with someone under the age of 16, they will not be permitted in the library.
Our driver was late to our location by 45 minutes and tried to make up the time by driving 140km in a 120km zones. Driver also chased down another vehicle that flashed their highbeams at us. We felt as if we were in a Fast and Furious movie for 3 hours. So we did not having fun in the car.

The tour starts with pickup from Cairo and transportation via a private van towards Alexandria. The drive was approximately 2.5 hours. During that time we had a comfortable nap and were given cool bottles of water.
Upon reaching Alexandria, we started with a visit to the catacombs where a noble and some families were buried. Afterwhich we went to a greek/Egyptian amphitheatre excavated within the city. We had some issues after at the Citadel by the bay, as the ticketing system had issues. They only accept payments via card (no cash). So we canceled that part and went straight to lunch at a restaurant called 'fish market'. This restaurant has an amazing view over the bay and the food was really good! The fish served was fresh and it came with an accomapniment of dishes and sauces. Definitely a highlight of the tour.
Thereafter, we went to the last site which was the new library of Alexandria. The inside of which, was very impressive due to the mix of modern islamic architecture and large open volume of the study hall. If you are a person who appreciates libraries and academic works, this is a must see.
Overall, our guide Safira was able to explain well in english for each site and we would recommend you take her. We enjoyed our tour and would recommend anyone who wants to get a quick visit of Alexandria.

Tour guide in Alexandria is very good. The lunch was excellent, with good fish. The car that was supposed to pick us up from the hotel in Cairo came late, and did not have seat belts for rear passengers so we had to travel at up to 110km/hr in motorways for about 3 hours without seat belts - main reason for low score; otherwise, I would have given 3 or 4. We took several tours by the local tour operator who arranged this also, Emo travel (I was told Egypt tours is the same company), and their procedure of picking us up from hotel is less than satisfactory, always late, and confusing. Not a single guide who picked us up carried the "Emo Travel" or similar board they were supposed to carry according to instructions we received. All of them were late (may be common practice in Cairo) and each was trying his/her own method to find us in the hotel while we were just waiting right at the entrance of Grand Nile Tower Hotel following Emo travel instructions!

Ich würde gern erfahren, warum die von uns gebuchte und bezahlte Tour an die wir mehrfach erinnert wurden, nicht durchgeführt wurde???

Hi we have already went on the tour. We paid for entry fees included online. However, we are students. Can we get a refund on the entry fees?

Could you tell me if the drive from Cairo is interesting, beautiful, historic, or just desert? I don’t want to spend six hours in a car if the drive isn’t interesting

Hi, I’m interested to book this tour for Nov 23 2019, which is a Saturday. Is the Library of Alexandria open on a Saturday? From their website, it says they are open but from your tour description, you say they are not open. Which one is correct?
