- tomsG2052MK0 contributionsFantastic kayaking tripWe (a family of 2 adults and 3 teenage/near teenage boys) had an amazing half day kayak tour of 'little' Epidaurus and snorkeling over a sunken mansion with Alex and the team. Alex was an amazing and informative guide on local life and culture, the wildlife and the sights and everything went super smoothly and the food courtesy of George's mum was wonderful. A real treat and highly recommended.Written August 10, 2023
- LisaPisa20 contributionsWonderful, relaxing trip around coves of Porto Cheli. Must do!Wonderful, relaxing kayak trip around Porto Cheli coves. George, our guide, was so much fun to be with and he took care of us well. He had snorkeling equipment and provided a yummy mother-cooked meal that was vegetarian upon request. Kayaking is the best way to experience the Argolid. We will definitely contact Tribal Kayak again when we come back to Greece.Written June 23, 2023

- Caharn0 contributionsBest Kayaking Trip Ever!!!I am not usually a big fan of kayaking, but George made this kayaking trip amazing. He forced me to relax and enjoy the experience. He took my wife and I to a beautiful cove to swim and snack on a deliciously fresh made fruit salad made of local fresh fruit, local honey and cinnamon. At the conclusion of the kayaking tour he had a restaurant waiting to serve us cold beer, fresh bread with olive oil and some delicious Greek olives. He took us to see an olive oil pressing factory, and then brought us to a amazing restaurant downtown. I would highly recommend taking advantage of using Tribal Kayaking for any tours they offer. My wife and I left Naufplio with a new found love for kayaking and a new friend. Thank you again George for a memorable trip.Written November 6, 2019
- Lr1127760 contributionsGreat Day!What a wonderful day my husband and I recently had with George kayaking the Nafplio coast. George is friendly, knowledgable, professional, and accommodating. He also made us a very tasty fruit salad beach side for snack! He recommended a great place for lunch when we were done and made sure we were situated before he departed. We were on a 2 week adventure through Italy and Greece and kayaking with George was my personal highlight. Nafplio is a beautiful city and to see it from the water is a real treat, not to mention the opportunity to swim in the warm waters of the Agean even late in October. Many thanks for a day we will never forget. Carey and LisaWritten November 3, 2019

We had an absolutely wonderful day of sea kayaking, but it was much more than just paddling. We had the incredible experience of swimming with turtles, exploring ancient ruins teeming with vibrant wildlife, and even visiting the small theatre of Epidaurus. The guides were exceptionally attentive, catering to all skill levels, making the tour feel like a guided adventure with excellent recommendations for further exploration. The professionalism of the team was outstanding, and I would wholeheartedly recommend this experience to anyone without hesitation. A must-do for any nature or history lover!

The whole experience was amazing.
George and his team are fantastic, you can really feel that they do these tours with a lot of passion, it's not just a job.
They are extremely skilled, and very friendly and accomodating.
Every detail is thought out to make this experience great.
What other positive reviewers have said is true about what they offer, and all at a very low price, which is incredible.
I would definetly recommend you that you undertake this experience, and we will certainly repeat it the next time we are in the area in the coming years, because it is truly a pleasure.

Great experience. Our two guides - Yannis and Yannis - were both very knowledgeable and friendly. Gave lots of good information on local history as well as mythology surrounding the local area. The kayaking was not difficult and is suitable for beginners - we had a bit of wind the day we did it and had no issues.
The small theatre is cool, and the guides added a lot of colour to it by telling us about the owner who discovered it (and promptly had his property confiscated under Greek law) and its current uses.
The sunken city was why we signed up, and it was definitely worth it. Very cool to see the fish swimming in and around the ruins, and to see things like the tiled floor, the remains of the huge amphoras, and the oven. We were provided with snorkels and masks to swim over it and had plenty of time to do it. The lunch on the beach afterwards of stuffed peppers and tomatoes was delicious and suitable for coeliacs.
One thing to note is that we got caught in traffic in Athens so were 25-30 minutes late, and the guides were completely chilled about it. We had contacted them to warn them, and one took the main body of the group on ahead and when we got there the second guide took us to catch up. No pressure, no drama, no cancellation. Absolutely brilliant.

The best part of my trip! There's very little info about the Sunken City at Epidaurus online and I found out about it because I read a blog by a traveller who had explored it with Tribal Kayak. The two Ioannis cousins and George are absolute professionals so that two complete noobs at sea kayaking could have a grand time in the sun and water. I also enjoyed visiting the little theatre and its surroundings - so much history in the Ancient Epidaurus area. Wait till you try the Greek meal cooked by George's mother - you'll want to come back again, for sure!

Simply outstanding for beginners like us (in our mid 60’s) to young people and even families.
The pro’s gave us 1-2-1 guidance and even though we weee always ‘bring up the rear’ we never felt any pressure to keep up. As far as I could see all the novices had a pro with them at all times.
Safety measures were excellent along with some first aid my husband needed which was not related to the trip.
We kayaked in a double to the far aide of the bay, got out and had a quick swim before a short walk to the Little Epidavros Ampitheatre only discovered in 1970, then back to the sea to paddle half way back to a small unorganised beach where snorkelled directly from the beach over the remains of a sunken city with snorkels provided if you didn’t have your own. Then we had a delicious lunch made by the leaders mum on the beach.
Then a paddle back across the mirror like bay.
Fantastic crew and a wonderful relaxed experience.
Thank you all

As a total kayak novice (i.e. never sat on a kayak before!) I was nervous about this trip but having done it would warmly recommend it to anyone. George, the owner/host, was super relaxed but also inspired confidence. By lucky chance we booked a quiet day with only one other family. We took our 13 year old twins, who had an absolute ball. The other family were experienced kayakers but we didn't feel hustled to keep up. We had two double kayaks and we went at our own pace with two of the guides keeping us safe. Iannis also provided a steady flow of interesting facts about the surroundings, in impeccable English. He also did a fantastic job of taking photos throughout the day which were then forwarded on to us at the end. Nico was great at making sure no one got left behind.
The paddling wasn't strenuous, and was very manageable even for kids and me (helped by dim and distant memories of rowing at uni). The outing breaks into three parts - first paddle to a little bay where you get to snorkel and if you're lucky, see a turtle (first highlight). Then a walk up to the Little Theatre of Epidavros, a gentle stroll away, before setting off again to the sunken villa. Another stop to snorkel over the villa followed by delicious homemade lunch, and then one final paddle back to the starting point. On the way back we were joined by George's dog Captain Lucy, much to the delight of my canine-adoring daughter!
Float vests and snorkels are provided, as well as a dry bag for your stuff.
Practical tips: They only take cash payment so come prepared (nearest ATM was in Epidavros). Pack light. We barely even used our towels as it was so sunny we air-dried off for lunch. Water is provided, although we took our own as well. Rash vest or tshirt against the sun, as well as sunscreen and hat. You might want shorts for the walk up to the theatre. Water shoes of some sort are useful for the snorkelling at the villa, to avoid accidental contact with the very spiky sea urchins - kids and I had neoprene shoes, my husband wore canvas sandals.
My only regret is not having had a waterproof case for my phone to take photos at the sunken city. For someone who really does not do outdoors/water/physical activities for fun, this was well outside my comfort zone but I am so glad we went. It was *magic*!

A wonderful day out! We kayaked around the bay and took in the mini amphitheatre at Epidaurus as well as snorkelling over the ruins of the sunken ancient city. Our guides were friendly, organised and very knowledgeable about the history and geology of the area. Lunch, included in the tour was simply delicious - traditional Greek cuisine and generously portioned. A brilliant experience all round !!

We would like to thank George and Costas for a wonderful kayaking experience and snorkelling over the sunken remains. (We are a family of 6 with 3 teenage children and a 10 year old). Our trip started in a bay east of Epidavros port where we got to grips with the kayaks before heading up the coast to a beautiful beach with a small island where we stopped for swimming and a delicious homemade picnic lunch (of stuffed tomatoes and peppers cooked by George’s mother). Along the way we jumped out of the kayaks to swim (the children spent more time in the water than in the kayaks)! The water is incredibly clear and the most beautiful blue on this coast. George and Costas took us to a mini ancient theatre of Epidavros close to a little beach and told us the history. They also pointed out the volcano with its crater and lava flows across the water. The trip ended at the sunken ruins which we enjoyed snorkelling over. I thoroughly recommend watching the short video that George has created of this trip - it will blow you away!

We are arriving July 4 on a cruise to Nafplion port at 8am, and departing at 4pm. Is there enough time for us to do this trip? We really want to kayak and snorkel the ancient city.
Do you have a shuttle that could pick us up, or should I arrange a driver?
There are 5 of us that want to do it from the cruise, I could see if more are interested if needed to coordinate a shuttle.
Thanks, Candace
