About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- P1940OCamberw0 contributionsLifetime experience! We did the Dolphin/Snorkeling, Jozani Forest, Kuza Cave, Paje Beach and the Rock Restaurant tour. Our guide, Abas and driver Simba were both great. Abas was friendly and provided a lot of information during the trip. We didn't see dolphins so they took us to the sandbank, we had a great time at the sand bank, enjoying the shallow water. Jozani Forest was a unique experience with the monkeys and our group loved it. The forest itself is very beautiful and more time would have been fantastic. Paje Beach was cool, but too many beach boys or others trying to get you to buy stuff. The Rock Restaurant was a cool experience and the food was really good, even if a little overpriced. You're paying for the view and experience. We went to Kuza Cave later in the day and we were pretty much the only group there, which was great. The water was perfect and it was another unique experience. As others have said, it is a private tour and it can be hard to stay on track with time constraints. The guide never pressed us on going to the next event, but we did get back later than originally planned. Overall, it was a great trip and the whole group enjoyed it.Written March 2, 2025
- rosalindb8920 contributionsExpensive and not worthy of its reputationDIsappointing . Information regarding the transfer is misleading.; you have to walk down to beach and then jump onto a rickety rowing boat; you will get your clothes and shoes wet as there is no pier or jetty. The menu is limited, overpriced and lacked imagination, with many fried bland items on the menu. Considering the food in Zanzibar is so varied and such high quality the menu here leaves a lot to be desired. The staff were friendly and pleasant but the service was rushed. This restaurant need to up its game to be worthy of the hype.Written January 31, 2025
- e_essi0 contributionsA great experienceAmina was a brilliant guide; knowledgeable, funny and kind. It was an action-packed day — roughly 7am to 7pm — but I got to see all the key Zanzibar highlights in one. Would recommend!Written January 5, 2025
- Resort455592931720 contributionsA well organised, fulfilling and joyful trip - it is worth it!We were very fortunate and grateful to have had this trip delivered by the brilliant duo of Amena and Jigga Boy. They both had a great entertaining rapport between them, and made us feel relaxed and safe immediately. The vehicle was clean & comfortable - Jigga boy was a great, friendly & confident driver. Amena is a real credit to herself profession and made our day feel extra special. The tour overall was very interesting and had a real variety of experiences to it - from the joy and bliss on the beautiful Nakupenda sandbank to the hustle and bustle of culture in Stone town to learning of the dark history of slavery both here and on prison island. With this we felt such peace and happiness with the giant tortoises! With the experience, the food prepared for us on Nakupenda was so delicious! If you are able to book this tour then it won’t disappoint and if through booking you get Amena as your guide like we did, you’ve hit the jackpot. Her knowledge, personable adaptable nature, humour and confidence in delivery makes her a premier guide!Written November 20, 2024
- 529annikar0 contributionsNice beach day outWe had an amazing day with our guide Amina on Nakupenda Beach, Prison Island and Stone Town. Amina was very friendly and provided lots of good information. The driver Rashid was also super nice and watched our luggage during the trip.Written November 13, 2024
- ioanp2880 contributionsDay trip to Prison Island and NakupendaThe trip was really nice, but not so much to see in Stone town as most of the landmarks are under renovation (Old fort, House of wonders etc). Prison Island was good and the tortoise sanctuary is something to see. Nakupenda Sand bank is amazing: clear water and white sand. There was also seafood lunch prepared in front you and it's super tasty. My guide, Mr. P was hepfull although he is still new in the business. Overall a nice experience but a little bit overrated. I would say real price is max 100 USD.Written November 2, 2024
- evajY6762AR0 contributionsAwesome day tour, great experienceWe very much enjoyed our private day tour to Mnemba Island, Jozani forest, Tangawizi Spice Farm and Stonetown. We were picked up from our hotel on time with a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle. Bottled water was provided. After driving to a beach we took a small motorboat to open sea close to Mnemba Island. There we had the chance to swim with a group of dolphins including young ones. After that we did some snorkeling at open sea before returning to shore. Our driver picked us up and we were on our way to Jozani forest. We told our guide we were hungry and asked if she knew a place we could eat and she took us to the Jozani Biosphere Village restaurant. This was not part of the tour but we were very happy we got to eat at this nice and simple, open (as in no windows) restaurant surrounded by nature. We had the Bi Khole’s Special: Mama Jozani’s Senti (Mom’s Platter). It was a collection of Swahili dishes including beef paka (stew), octopus masala, a whole fried fish, prawns, crispy fried chicken, sausages, grilled calamari, spinach, ugali, white rice and fries. It was delicious and only $ 22 (or 45.000 Tanzanian Shilling) for 2 people. In Jozani forest we saw 2 different types of Monkeys including the Zanzibar Red Colobus, a species that only lives in Zanzibar. There was a whole group of them sitting in low branches next to the path and our guide took us into the bushes to see them up close. A little further down the road was the entrance to the mangrove forest. There is a nice wooden walking bridge through these beautiful trees with their impressive roots. Our guide pointed out some tiny crabs which we fed shredded leaves to. After the mangrove forest there was a group of local people making music and dancing. Then we drove for about an hour to Tangawizi Spice Farm. A guide from the farm showed us around all the different plants and trees letting us smell and taste some straight of the plant (such as nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon, ginger, coffee, lemongrass) The big banana, durian and jackfruit trees were nice to see. We drank from a fresh coconut and got to see Butterfly Man climb a very tall palm tree. Our last stop was Stone Town, the main city of Zanzibar. We arrived at the harbour where there is a small open air food market. You can make a nice video with the young men that jump of the cliff. We went inside the old fort where we bought something from the souvenirshops. We walked around the Stonetown streets and passed some historic buildings like the Sultans Palace, a Mosk, Catholic Church and a Hindu temple close to each other. We also passed the Freddy Mercury museum but didn’t go inside. We were supposed to go to the Slave trade exhibit but because some other things (like our lunch) took a bit long it was already closed when we got there and we decided to come another day. It really was a great full day program. We were picked up at 07:00 (7 am) and returned back to our hotel around 19:00 (7 pm). We had a lot of fun with our guide Amina, she is very friendly and has great vibes. She also took some nice pictures of us. We enjoyed her company and that of our skilled driver Simba. Lots of laughter and good music. In fact, we enjoyed it so much we decided to book with them again. We had a phone call with the boss and explained which other places we wanted to visit and discussed a good price and pick up time for our next tour. (The next day we went to Baraka Natural Aquarium (swimming with turtles was amazing!), Kuza cave, had lunch at Rainbow Paje restaurant, went to Pingwe beach where we saw the Rock restaurant sitting on a rock in the sea and went on a boat trip to go snorkeling in 2 different places where we saw lots of beautiful fish and starfish. We booked a third tour with them and went to Nakupenda Island and Prison Island. This time Amina was not there unfortunately but we got Abas as our guide. Thank you to Abas for making our special video. At Nakupenda Island we had a seafood barbecue and went swimming. The boat came to pick us up and we went to Prison Island where we saw huge tortoises.) Since we did not get to see the Slave trade exhibit in Stonetown during our first day tour we asked to go there this time before returning to our hotel. We saw a church, the slave chambers, and the slave monument. Thank you to our guide Amina and driver Simba for showing us so much of the Island and sharing good vibes. We had a great time!Written November 2, 2024
- leniquej20240 contributionsDolphin Tour, Jozani Forest, The Rock Restaurant, Kuza Cave, Paje Beachthis tour from start to finish was well orchestrated and so much fun. My partner and i booked the dolphin tour/snorkelling at first and it was such a thrill we saw many colonies of dolphins new born babies included! Our next stop was jozani forest to see the monkeys and they were so cute. We saw lil families of blue monkeys and orange monkeys, there were lots of baby monkeys playing around which was so cool to see. Next stop was The Rock Restaurant and the views there were amazing. Be weary of locals that will stop at nothing to have to support their small business booths lol!!! the food there was pretty good we just wished the portions were a bit bigger but overall experience there was a solid 7.5/10. Our next stop was kuza cave and it was breathtakingly beautiful and refreshing. we didn't swim in the fresh water but it is so worth the dip! Our last stop was paje beach but we decided to go home afterwards due to tiredness during our ride. we also stayed at the mora which was 1 hour minimum away from all the places we went to (expect the dolphin tour which we were lucky enough to just walk out our resort onto the beach and start our tour there! pick ups were on time and our driver was simba! (great music taste and efficient safe ride) and tour guide was abas (super friendly, very knowledgeable and great energy overall) ALSO don't forget to TIP!!!! overall we would def book with them again!Written October 26, 2024

Very fun and full of discoveries. We have seen and discovered how the different spices we use every day are grown. The cooking class was very nice, too bad our guide did not do translation as we could not talk with the two women we were cooking with. Recommended activity

I had a wonderful day from pick-up to return to the hotel. A whole caring team. The guide Jean Bosco shared his expertise with me on each plant on the farm. The cooking class with Fatouma and her sister was awesome. I would definitely make this dish again at home.
