About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Virginia D0 contributionsFragrant, informative and enjoyableOur guide, Zamir from Madeira Travel and Tours of Zanzibar, took us to the Union Spice Farm which operates as part of a local village. The explanations of the spices and their growth stages and uses were very informative. Whilst we walked around the farm, Illi climbed trees to bring down samples and made us beautiful jewellery from the leaves and flowers, a very talented young man. As Australians, we could not take any spices home, but were shown the packaged soaps and perfumes that Australian customs will allow. There was no hard sell, which we really appreciated. Finally, Butterfly the showman performed a show demonstrating the benefits of coconuts and how to engage a multilingual audience.Written June 30, 2023
- Zanzibarlocaltourgui0 contributionsThis mixing started in 19th century where by majority of the people from Middle East came across the Indian ocean and this is thHowever due to the high number of people came in zanzibar from different countries around the world which made it to be so unique on its own ways these led people to form swahili culture which is so dynamic and hard to identify it the balcony originally from India which has a little bit influence of Oman Arab normally you can see them with much decorations on it at the time people mixed bood and to have cosmopolitan architecturesWritten August 8, 2022
- Liezl_Zanzi0 contributionsStone Town tour - customised for us.Abuu was so friendly accommodating, courteous and knowledgable. We were three ladies one a very hot day wanting to see Stone Town. He adapted the tour accordingly and we were very happy with his service.Written October 6, 2021
- Khoa N0 contributionsThe best stonetown tourBefore coming to Zanzibar, i was very anxious and worried about my trip, because it was my first time traveled solo. I reached out to the booking agent Said, and he was very friendly and welcome. He answered all the concerns I had about arriving, luggages, and helped me book a ride to my hotel in Kendwa. He makes sure that there’s no worries existed just like the spirit of hakuna matata. The tourguide Abubakar patiently waited for me after a long time at the custom and welcomed me with the best energy. He is an English teacher and is very knowledgeable about the town. I have learned so much in a short day. His enthusiasm is unmatched. The driver Daz is very nice as well, which i ended hire him again for my other excursions. Thank you for everything!!Written September 19, 2021
- Cristina F0 contributionsA must do experience while in ZanzibarWe had a great experience with Abu, our guide, walking the streets of Stone Town! Abu is super kind and very knowledgeable on all things history. He is an English teacher so you can rest assured that you will get great info in a beautifully spoken discourse. We asked him to stay with us also after sunset because we didn't know what to expect regarding the safety on the streets. You can probably do the tour by yourself, but you will miss all the history details (which are more than interesting) and also you might get a little bit harassed by people on the street or at the market trying to sell you things. With Abu we felt safer and in good hands. You must also note that this is a small town and everybody knows everybody. The guide is inclined in taking you to shops or at food street sellers that he is friends with. Thit can't be frown upon, as we would probably do the same thing. But if you are fixated on going somewhere, in particular, no worries (hakuna matata!) the guide will accompany you there.Written March 10, 2021

- Bruce Thomas Ja... A0 contributionsA day at a spice farmOn the whole, the day was a little disjointed with the initial van not being large enough for our party, so we had to wait for an additional van to get there. The spice farm tour itself with James as our guide, was very interesting. He and his "assistant" showed us numerous spices in their natural form, how they grow, how they harvest them and uses for different parts of the plants. The assistant(s) wove hats, ties and headbands from fronds and presented them to us and there was an opportunity at one point to buy soap, lotions or oils and at another point to buy the herbs and spices in different forms. Because of the way it was segmented, it seemed that was always someone that should get a tip, and cumulatively it added up to a high percentage of the tour cost. James and his portion of the tour was very well done and informative....balance of the tour was averageWritten March 17, 2020

- BulentA-T0 contributionsJozani forest tourMr.Zaid is very friendly and warm coordinator and guide. We are very satisfied with his and his team's service in tranportation from and to Stone Town of Zanzibar. He was quite flexible in responding our further desires. - kendobaka870 contributionsA beautiful place with brilliant guidesWe flew to Zanzibar from the Masai Mara national park, needless to say we were looking forward to some more wildlife. The red Colobus monkeys were awesome! As we walked through the forest the monkeys jumped about the treetops and got very close to us indeed. (If you're lucky you might see huge rock pythons too!) We were very well taken care of by Saeed and Nasir who have become dear friends. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting ZanzibarWritten October 28, 2019
- kendobaka870 contributionsBRILLIANT!!My wife originally booked this tour through Avios, though we have since become friends with Saeed and Nasir who took care of our travel between destinations. They were very friendly and polite and arranged for our guide through stone town. Our Guide's name was ABK and he educated us on many parts of the city. It would be very difficult to appreciate this city without a knowledgeable person guiding you through. We originally did not have this planned, but Saeed was kind enough to arrange. We were very pleasantly surprised and plan to be back in touch with them the next time we're back in Zanzibar!Written October 28, 2019

I did a day tour with four of my friends today and it was exactly what we wanted! Everything ran so smoothly and Said was so welcoming and accommodating. You could tell their top priority was making sure we had an amazing time. We wanted a private group with just us and they allowed us to do it so we could do everything at our own pace. The seafood lunch was amazing and we could leave each location at our leisure. Thank you so much for a fantastic day! We will always remember this!

Mr Malik was my exclusive guide and tour arranger for the entire duration of my trip to Zanzibar.
From first contact through to picking me up in Dar Es Salaam, Mr Malik had clear communication and fair pricing. A detailed itinerary was sent to me before I confirmed any of my tours, outlining what was on offer and expected duration of activities. This information was well presented and meant that I had all I needed to know to have fun!
The tours I went on where well thought out, with excellent guides and amazing information. Walking around stone town and learning about the history was perhaps one of my most favourite parts of the walking tour – not to forget exchanging greetings with local fish mongers and merchants throughout the crowded and chaotic markets. Prison island was stunning, don’t forget to rub the tortoises back!
I was also privileged to have a lunch at the prestigious rock restaurant, all arranged and secured by a hard working Mr Malik. To top it off I was surprised with an additional dhow cruise and snorkel in the surrounding area, something Mr Malik was able to easily organise when I happened to express my desire to go play on a boat for an afternoon. After it was all said and done, I would head back to my beautiful hotel hand picked just for me. Again Mr Malik pulled out all the stops to ensure my travel experience was one to remember.
I would not hesitate to recommend Mr Malik and Zafrica tours, they gave me a trip of a life time and a worry free experience – all at a price that was super affordable with a flair for professionalism and hospitality.

How can I efficiently and clearly explain that gorgeous tour?, Safari Blue is simply wonderful experience for those who are extremely addicted with snorkeling, swimming, sun bathing like me, for those who love sea foods or want to taste delicious sea foods and seasonal fruits, Safari Blue is your ultimate best choice. It was simply spectacular sea adventure from Fumba village to natural lagoons, from lagoons to sand bank/bar, from sand bank to Kwale Island, pleasant and very fascinating sea adventure.
Thanks and excellent Said Malik and your fellow staffs of Zafrica Tours and Safaris for your amazing service and life time experience, thank you for that historic sea adventure, I wish to explore once again this tour and other excursions with you guys at the near future.
The service and value for money 10/10

Why is there a photo taken by renowned photographer Moiz Hussein of one of the real Safari Blue Zanzibar dhows, advertising a product that has no connection with Safari Blue Zanzibar tour. This image is the property of the photographer and does not represent the product offered by this company.

Please mind your business and stay away from us.

Hi all, I am from Joburg and going out to Zanzibar on Friday.
I have looked at various excursions and been put off by the comments about large numbers of ppl on a boat, too many ppl all snorkelling at the same spot and hardly any fish, far too many ppl squeezed onto the same sandbank. But your review made me question whether or no this was always the case. Please can you comment for me? Many thanks (also i felt a lot of northern europeans are just grateful for some sun and beach whereas we are a bit more fussy as we are lucky to get lots of it at home but I may be very wrong about that too!)
Regards Marion
