The driver is amazing and so was the tohr
Our driver Kanybek (Каныбек) was absolutely amazing. He spoke Kyrgyz, Tajik, Russian, and most importantly, perfect English. And he spends every Winter still improving his English. He was also very relaxed, open about everything and very flexible in changing the plans (also leave on Wednesday to get to the Afghan Market on Saturday!). Could not have wished for a better driver.

          Amazing
This was truly one of the best travel experiences of my life. All made possible by the amazing guide Kanybek. He was a gifted driver, kind, funny and always concerned for our well being and enjoyment of the trip. He made changes when necessary, offered us options and made suggestions. We went late in the year and so he helped us choose activities that fit the weather and conditions. He found us hot springs and historical landmarks. I have nothing to say but great things about the trip. And it all starts with our amazing driver. Thank you Alay. Thank you Kanybek. Incredible experience

Well organized and safe driver. Great Pamir Highway experience!
We had a wonderful tour in Tajikistan, traveling along Pamir Highway. It was a round-trip with Dushanbe as starting and end-point. The tour was perfectly organized. With a friendly and safe driver. I would recommend to take driver as roads are difficult to drive. Communication before and during the booking process was very convenient and the team always replied quickly. With a small fee the team also prepared the required GBAO permits as we did not have e ough time at Dushanbe to organize by ourselves. We would book the tour anytime again!

          Beautiful mountains, beautiful people
Visit Alay helped arrange my GBAO permit (I was too short on time to do it myself in Dushanbe) and added me to a group with three other people for the 9D/8N trip from Dushanbe to Osh on the Pamir Highway and along the Wakhan Corridor. Communication was friendly and helpful. The driver for the most part in Tajikistan, Mahmadnazar, is a great driver with a comfortable and well-maintained Land Cruiser. He's safe and calm, answered all our questions, was attentive and -- major bonus -- had a good sense of humour. The driver in Kyrgyzstan was also very friendly, you could tell from his face that he liked to laugh and enjoy life. A few tips: - T-Cell has better reception in the Pamirs than Megafon, which is usually the better provider. - Let the driver know what you want, whether it's more photo stops or your priorities for the accommodations. - Buy some fruits for the road. Oh, and yes, the trip was wonderful, the landscapes spectacular and the people unfailingly warm and welcoming.

          Awesome your, excellent driver
This tour was amazing. We had an incredible experience: Tajikistan is a beautiful country, and the people are the kindest I have ever met. Our driver Mahmatazar made the whole experience even better, he's an excellent driver and we felt very safe with him. He also took us to very nice home stays and answered all our many questions. I highly recommend visiting the Pamirs, and Visit Alay did a very good job with all the planning and execution, we didn't have any problems.

A great Pamir with a great driver
Our 9-day trip to the Pamirs was amazing. Our driver's name was Daniyar. He is a local and knows the way perfectly well, there have never been any problems. He booked all our accommodation during the trip, where we were always welcome, fed and the hosts were hospitable. Daniyar always helped us, pleasant, friendly and he was punctual! It was thanks to his efforts that we never worried about anything, were cheerful and enjoyed the trip. When we changed drivers at the border with Kyrgyzstan, things got a little worse. The new driver was poorly acquainted with the route and did not bring us to the shower as promised. It would be better to think about the currency issue and offer guests a small amount, since there are no exchange offices at the border. It is also worth placing guests closer to the base camp of Lenin Peak, since the walk from the yurts on the lake is very far and tiring (always across a field with no change in views). Otherwise, the trip was great, thanks for everything!

          Great experience
I highly recommend this company. They were very responsive to my questions and organized everything very well. We had a fantastic experience in places like no other. Both drivers were excellent, knowledgeable, pleasant, flexible, careful. Guesthouses were much better than we expected and they are getting better every year. Thank you very much!

Great value, once in a lifetime experience
I was surprised by the scenic views and ruggedness of nature of the area. I also enjoyed local foods, animal watching, hiking near the glaciers, bathing in the Pamir mountains, etc. Our guide was from the area and he had a good understanding of the need of travelers as well as deep insights of the region. I was able to understand historical background and current situation of the region, which made me more impressed. The only pitfall was that there were no warnings about altitude sickness!

          Pamir Highway with Abdi
We had a really great trip. The scenery is absolutely spectacular. Wakham valley, Lenin’s Peak and the Bibi Fatima hot springs were my personal highlights. Our guide Abdi was absolutely incredible. He really looked after us well and made the experience fantastic. Would highly recommend Abdi as a guide!

          Great experience
I enjoyed this tour very much: Pamir is such a wonderful, wild place and our guide, Abdi, took us to so many beautiful places (not all of them were mentioned on the itinerary, I think we did some extras), he was always helpful and ready to answer our questions (which we had a lot) and made this trip unforgettable.

Thanks for this wonderful journey. We had a great time and a fantastic group with super-nice driver Daniyar. All hikes were amazing, especially the hike to the Engels peak. I would highly recommend this tour!

          Highly recommend :)
I did the 9-day trip from Osh to Dushanbe, and Visit Alay posted the dates for other travellers to join, so we had a group of four which made it more fun & affordable. The trip was great, a few long driving days but lots of walks too, and incredibly beautiful sights. The guesthouses and meals were simple but homely. We had three drivers but one main one for the final 6 days, Daniyar, who was excellent - friendly, helpful, and a safe driver. I definitely recommend him for your trip! Overall I had a great time and highly recommend this itinerary.

          Breathtaking Pamir landscapes
I joined a group driving from Dushanbe to Osh in 7 days, Aug2024. It was definitely one of the best adventure trips I’ve ever done! I can only recommend!! Our driver and guide Mahmadnazar was the best, not only an excellent driver with a new toyota land cruiser, but also very kind and fun to be around. Try to go with him 😉 We paid the tour in advance and brought Tajik som and USD for the homestays and restaurants along the way. If you enjoy getting off the car a bit more, I’d recommend the 10-day tour. Bring warm clothes and be careful not to drink any tap water.

Through the pamir in 10 days
Our driver and guide Kokon was a very pleasant, spirited company and organised everything in an efficient and reliable way. He showed us the beauties of the Panj river valley, Wakhan corridor and of the Pamir Plateau and explained many things to us. He showed us animals, including a Marco Polo sheep, many Yaks, Ibexes and Marmots. Especially the drive down to Jarty Gumbez, Shorbulak observatory, and the two Kukjigit Lakes was a very good experience. Thanks to Kokon (and for a short while our driver in Kirgistan) the trip was a very good adventure. This also includes the four hikes we went on: Bartang valley to Jizev, Engels Peak meadowd, the Panorama Ridge trail and later the trail at Lenin peak up to travelers pass (highest 4750 m!) It was a good decision to spend 10 days for the tour and not reduce it to a shorter time as many do. We could have even spent more time, for example at Karakul lake, to walk and see more of it. Altogether, many thanks to the Alay team and to Kokon for the great tour.

          Unforgettable Experience!
I travel solo and appreciate that Visit Alay helped creating a group so I was able to share the trip cost with other travellers! It was a 9D8N trip from Dushanbe to Osh and the trip was fun! It was truly an amazing ezperience. Breathtaking sceneries and lovely people we met along the trip make the trip even more unforgettable. Shout out to our super experienced driver Sham! He is a very nice person and helped arranging decent accomodation for all of us.

We did the 9-day Osh to Dushanbe trip that included several hikes. Our driver in Tajikstan was excellent--experienced, knowledgeable and conversational in English. The scenery was spectacular, but for us the hikes were the highlight (all self-guided). The hike to the Engels Peak meadow was one of the best days of hiking ever. It was important to us not to spend the entire time in the 4x4 vehicle. The road is quite bumpy in places.

Visit Alay was excellent to work with and the trip went smoothly. They responded promptly to my emails and questions. I highly recommend them for a Pamir Highway trip.

For context, we are over age 60 independent travelers, who avoid luxury travel and like to get off the beaten path.

We have been traveling the world for so long and this was one of the most challenging and memorable experiences so far, we said WOW so many times!!! what fantastic views, what nature, little villages, hospitable and kind people we met in our cozy guest houses and around !!!! The 9 day trip was more than we had expected. THANK YOU!
Our Drivers, Kuba for the Kirgis part (1 day and half) was so kind and helpful, and Daniyr for the Tajik part which was 8 days was outstanding, very skilful driver (you really need to know those roads for the bad condition of some and the unexpected of the routes that you have take or you can get lost) kind, helpful, always paying attention to our needs, very patient with our requests and really flexible specially when due to the altitude and snow we as a group (France-Belgium-Italy-Peru) didn't feel like doing the 9-hour trekking to Angel's peak instead He took us to little villages on the way and the hot springs and we had a very enjoyable day with no regrets at all 😃 so a BIG part of our great experience is due to Daniyr and we really appreciate it and won't forget THANK you!!!
Thanks to Arizet and Nargiza at the office in Osh for planning and explaining the trip, getting the permits and making things possible 😉

Visit Alay is a great company. They make everything really convenient and efficient. We had an excellent driver, Baktiar, who knew the Pamir roads like the back of his hand, got us great accommodation and would share information about the area with us. He was also really good company.

The trip was phenomenal. Highly recommend.

What a wonderful tour. Landscapes are amazing and reveal the unique natural of themselves at every corner.

In addition to nature, the tour gives a great look into local nomadic lifestyles.

I had two driver/guides, Juma (Kyrgyzstan) and Kanybek (Tajikistan) they are both fantastic people and take care of you from start to finish.

Most of our time was with Kanybek and he was one of the best tour guides I've ever had. Not only did he ensure our comfort through the journey, but his knowledge of history, current events and routes were just amazing. Very very talented person in many ways. I'm very glad to have lucked out with such a good guide and highly recommend to anyone travelling central asia / pamirs / Tajikistan.

        Thank you for everything Kanybek!

Since it was just the start of spring, we experienced the snow, the sun and the green pastures all in one trip. The scenery was out of this world, the people are always welcoming and the arrangements made by Sali, Jarkyn and Mohammad Nazar were seamless. It was truly a trip of a lifetime.

The tour was in a comfortable 4WD that was able to traverse the challenging roads on the Pamir highway. Our driver, Kanybek took us to see some amazing sights, which were off the beaten track and hard to get to, but his driving was superb and safe. We enjoyed our home stays which were varied. Our yurt stay was particularly memorable. Our guide was always happy to answer our many questions and we learnt a lot about the culture and history of Tajikistan. Kanybek’s idea to show us the Afghan market was inspired and an unforgettable experience. We came for the amazing landscape but got a lot more than we were expecting- jaw droppingly beautiful views, snow leopards, Marco Polo sheep and an amazing variety of birds. The only frustrating part of the trip was not having the latest information on currency exchange in Tajikistan. So, I wasn’t able to exchange my Kyrgyz Soms in Murghab, which I had been informed I would be able to do prior to departure.

What a superb time I had (speaking for myself at least), two awesome drivers who made the whole thing so smooth despite some bumps along the road. Fantastic organisation from Visit Alay and a 7 day conveyor belt of spectacular scenery and new experiences. My advice would be to do a longer tour if possible (8 or 9 days) to make the most of the amazing places you're passing through - particularly the Wakhan valley.

We did the 9 day, Osh to Dushanbe tout, group #44.
Muhammad (Kyrgyzstan) and Kubatbek (Tajikistan) were our drivers and they were both excellent.
We thoroughly enjoyed every day if the tour and are glad we did the 9 day version and it allowed for more hiking days.
Accommodation was really good , better than expected.
We would highly recommend this tour and company!

I would recommend visit Alay. The organisation of the trip was smooth and we had no issues. Our driver Sali on the Tajik side was great. He is a good and professional driver. He is at home in the GBAO region which was interesting to understand the area.
On the Kyrgyz side our driver was Charkin (sorry I’m not sure how to spell the name!). He has a very fun and entertaining personality, but unfortunately doesn’t speak English that much. Nonetheless we had a great time with him.
One improvement for visitAlay: it would be great to include some activity (e.g. a small hike) on the days where we arrive at our destination early during the day as in Qarakol or Alichur.
