We had high expectations in advance of the cooking class, but the experience was even better. Such a lovely family, we learned a lot about Malaysian culture and cuisine (which is amazing) and enjoyed the great food. They really made us feel at home and we can say that it was probably the best experience we had in Malaysia. A pity that we can only put 5 stars because this cooking class for sure deserves more! We recommend everyone to try this very local hidden gem.

We hope to be able to see you again - in either Europe or Malaysia!

Had a great time with Patricia and her husband Kingston. I was hesitant booking at first because there were so few reviews and the price was so much more reasonable than the more established schools, so it felt like too good to be true, but it was totally worth it and I was able to customize our menu since it was a private class!!

We loved that the class was run out of her beautiful home, which allowed our 6 and 7 year old to play when they wanted (lots of toys around since they have a little one too) and come back to make the Onde Onde. Also, we were super jet lagged, and they were very accommodating and flexible about determining the start time and turned out to be a non-issue.

Book this class, I highly recommend, what a great value!

I undertook this class as part of my skill development for my school.
Having lived in Malaysia for 8 years I’ve eaten a lot of local food and spend a lot of time in the various wet markets. That’s said the trip we did we went to completely new wet market and got to have some delicious breakfast of noodles whilst shopping for our ingredients.

The cooking class I was really carefully mentored throughout and learnt to make some lovely genuine kampung Malay food. Dad loved the sambal which I took home and my sister thoughts the donuts I made we so delicious.

Ive does a number of cookery courses inside and outside of school but this was remarkable that this was with a genuine family in their home. This is as close to kampung cooking as it gets!!

If you want a real Malaysian experience with a wonderful Malaysian family you wont be disappointed. I strongly recommend this class not just to visitors or new expats but experienced expats will learn a new dimension to KL and find possibly the best BBQ meats in the city!!!

Thankyou. I’ll be returning.

This was very informative and I learnt a lot about cooking and the traditional foods of Malaysia. I was also taught about local people and some history of the food.

We had a brilliant time with Pat, Kingston and their lovely daughters! Our trip started at the Market, where Kingston showed us around and helped us understand some unique Malaysian ingredients. We then went on to a second market where we had a very tasty breakfast of dosai, roti canai and apom. After we were full, we headed back to meet Pat and the family and our cooking class began! We made blue rice, pongteh chicken, an aubergine sambal, ondeh ondeh for dessert and pulled some tea. The entire family were very warm, friendly, and keen to chat, and the food was beautiful. We had plenty of space and time to cook, and I came away feeling I'd learnt a lot about a whole new world of cookery and spent quality time with new friends. Thank you so much for a very memorable last day in Malaysia!

Thank you Cat! I'm so pleased to know you had a good experience with us. The whole family enjoyed your company as well. I hope you will find time to cook some sambal and pull some tea for your family and friends. Hugs from Pat, King, Emma and Kayla

Thank you so much for this experience! It was such a pleasure for us to be in your home yesterday and cook the 5 delicious dishes! Patricia and her husband Kingston are such  heartwarming people. And especially Kingston has a very good sense of humor.
Why I choose the class was because I saw the picture of Patricia and her daughter on tripadvisor. It looked like beeing part for a short time of a real malaysian family and it was so. Not like in a class where you just pay money for it and gettig some recipes. You can see how they live, which market they get there food from. And Patricia put so many lovely details into preparing the class and she catered all our special wishes like vegetarian etc. We cooked from zero to the final product. For example, we coloured the 'ondeh ondeh' with pandan leaves. She showed us how to do it all first and than we had to cook it by ourselves, but she helped us. After the cooking we ate together with the hole family. Kingston explained us how to play congkak an old malaysian game. I could write a lot more... But in short: They are just amazing and the experience we had with them will stay with us for a long time. We highly recommend Patricia's cooking class to anyone who is interested in malaysian cuisine!

Thank you so much, Lu! We certainly had fun too sharing about our country, our culture and cooking together. It was our pleasure hosting the cooking class and market visit. We hope that you will find the recipes useful when you go back to Germany. You are always welcome to our home if you ever visit Malaysia again!

Had a great time cooking and learning at Daun Senja. Patricia was very knowledgable, friendly and spoke very good English. It was evident that a lot of careful thought and planing went into the design of this delightful experience. The visit to the local market was very interesting and the cooking was hands on, producing delicious food that we tucked-in to for lunch. This cooking class was made even more pleasant with Pat's beautiful home kitchen as the perfect venue. Would strongly recommend this class for anyone interested in an authentic local experience with great food and an awesome new friend! Pat...thank you for memorable day...take care dear friend!
