They price is very good but the journey is not pleasant. It was a constant take over even when no needs on narrow road and many times in dangerous spots (like before a slope or a turn). I understand that is how they drive in Vietnam but this is putting other lives in risk.

We travelled with this bus from cat ba to Ninh Binh (booked through cat ba express). We got picked up at our accommodation that was all great. It was just shortly after that we noticed the erratic driving of the driver, overtaking at really dangerous spots, about a dozen real close calls. Pushing other driver of the road, smoking while driving, clipping his nails while driving. overtaking traffic that was waiting for the light to turn, and then cut just infront off them as the light turned green. All together quite a horrible bus ride, would never travel with cat ba discover, and would advise strongly against them.

We travelled with this company from catba to ninh binh, during the trip the guide told us to contact him to book other buses for our trip. Which we tried to do to go from ninh binh to hue - what a mistake... They gave us a meeting point at a random restaurant in tam coc to take the bus. We were told to meet there at 7pm, we had to rush and overpay for a taxi to meet the bus on time - because the bus was supposed to leave at 7:20pm. We were waiting at the restaurant for a long time, continuously contacting the guide to have informations. He would just tell us not to worry without giving specific details. After an hour of waiting, someone showed up at the restaurant, unannounced, and asked us to give him the money for the bus without giving us any form of contract or payment confirmation in return. We refused to give him the money (he did not have anything that would show he belonged to the company) and asked to pay him when we would see the bus and be sure to get on it. He got really upset, and started to talk to us quite rudely, saying that we needed to give him the money. He finally got in touch with the guide that we had been in contact with. When explaining the situation to the guide, he just refused to understand our position in spite by now having been 1,5h later than the original meeting plan. He started shouting at us over the phone and threatening us with the police if we did not give the money and use his company for the bus. The more aggressive and threatening he got the less comfortable we were with using his services. In spite of his empty threats, and having wasted 2h we decided not to get on the bus and eventually found an alternative for our trip. By the way the bus was scheduled at 10pm since the beginning...

We booked three services with Cat Ba discoveries: 1) transport Hanoi - Cat Ba 2) Cat ba bay tour with Serenity Cruises 3) transport Cat Ba - Ninh Binh 1) was excellent. Our driver drove slowly and safely and we were accompanied by a member of their staff who helpfully explained our journey and answered any of our questions. 2) was excellent. Our guide was excellent and very attentive. He took us through the kayaking tour and bicycle tour in Cat Ba national park and taught us a lot about life in Cat Ba. The boat itself was in a great condition and the lunch prepared by one of their chefs exceeded our expectations (yum). The entire staff was extremely friendly and attentive. They also arranged for us to sit with other travellers near our age which made the experience even more wholesome. 3) was a huge disappointment. Given our two very positive previous experiences with Cat Ba discoveries we weren’t expecting this trip to go so badly. No one from their staff accompanied us this time and we were left in the dark in terms of the different stages of our trip. Our driver was speeding and driving very dangerously which made us very uncomfortable. The worst of all was when we entered the ferry with the bus and we were told that we were basically trapped in the bus for the entire duration of the ferry journey (25 mins) because the doors were trapped by other vehicles parked in the ferry. As initially we had been told that we would be allowed to get out of the bus and considering the safety hazard that this posed, we protested to the driver quite forcefully so he managed to move the bus and let us out. The rest of the journey was uncomfortable as the driver kept speeding.

Worst driver ever. Went from Cat Ba to Ninh Binh. The driver drove extremely dangerous, even for Vietnam standards. Risky take overs, crossing middle line etc. The co-guide accompanying the ride was completely drunk. Very unsafe and dangerous. Do not take a ride with this company on the route Cat Ba - Ninh Binh!

The driver was insane even by the wild Vietnamese standards. The bags we left in the trunk were soaked with dirty rain water. And we arrived an hour late, but i would have preferred even later and less speeding on the wrong side of the road.

finally we arrived in cat ba island in safe condition, it is not long distance, 4,5 hours, we were welcomed by Mr Win, he dropped off at our hotel, it was really an excellent comfortable journey. highly recommended cat ba discovery bus company.

we booked tickets from our hotel we stayed, the guide in the hotel did not tell us about the journey but we were lucky enough to have the guide on the bus, Mr Win who speaks english very well he is very helpful and friendly to pick up and carried our luggage from the hotel,he made everything clearly from beginning to the end, that was comfortable journey, the bus also clean, we arrive on time as the guide said. I strongly recommended this bus company.

I finished alot of solo trip in Vietnam and few Asian countries. But the trip with Cat Ba discovery gave me a strong impression. Well, they have bus, tour, cruise, good hotel, restaurant... All you need for a great plan to travel. Each story, each people, each experience will give us different feeling. With Cat Ba Discovey, i got the wonderful tour on Lan Ha bay and hotel with them. These are some interesting challenges for you to explore a new land. Our trip started in morning with a picking up service from hotels on Cat Ba. Local tour guide speaks English very well and so useful in knowledge. We moved on a best boat of Cat Ba i think. Moved through the fishing village, a lots of islets, kayaking, good lunch on boat, cocktail sunset party.... The different experience in trip we got that visit Viet Hai village. It is local finishing village with amazing natural scenes. Funny active make sure you will so exciting that "fish massage". Trust me! You will laughed so crazy! Chung is young director of company. He is nicely and helpful. He is perfect guide with honest, funny friend also for your trip. Higly recommend!

Absolutely gorgeous trip in Cat ba. It is not very touristy very calm, quite, such a beautiful island, I highly recommended this trip, do not mist if you come to Viet Nam.
