Our driver and guide, Noelbin was extremely knowledgeable and willing to go the extra mile to make sure we had exactly what we wanted. We saw there amazing beaches and had all the shopping time we wanted. Noelbin also slowed down the vehicle to show us how some of the wildlife live and was continually on the lookout for interesting places to see. Playa Conchal is a hidden treasure. There are so many better companies that offer the same services at a better price and quality. Take my note as advise and use Arena Travel, or literally anyone else. My girlfriend and I booked the private transportation service from San Jose Airport (SJO) to our resort. We did a transfer in and out service. Upon arrival at SJO our driver was one hour late. Although frustrated and tired since we did arrive at 7:40 PM, and did not get picked up until 8:50 PM, we decided to let it go and enjoy our vacation. (The reason for being so late is there was an “accident”) LIE #1 by the company. When our driver arrived there was NO damage on the vehicle and said he left later than he was supposed to (HIS FAULT). Again, we let it go and enjoyed our vacation, but it gets worse. For our transfer out out pick up time was 5 AM from our resort. Being earlier than we had liked since it was a one hour drive and 4 hours until our 9am flight we accepted it. Come to find out, there had been another “accident” and we get told at 5AM, right at our pick up time, that we do not have a ride. They didn’t try to find another driver or help us out in any way. The best we got was “use local transportation.” At this point I didn’t care about a refund, I needed to get the airport so I did not miss my flight. I ended up spending double what they charged me for my transfer out and then they accused me for trying to take advantage of the situation when requesting a full refund. I asked for a refund in entirety for the HORRIBLE HORRIBLE service. I paid 250 USD in total for both services. All the offered was a partial refund and a poor apology. Disgusting disgrace of a company who lies to their customers when they have problems on their end and offer no solution or compensation. They did not even offer advice on how to find transportation last minute at 5 IN THE MORNING. What good is a partial refund going to do at the time when I needed reliable transportation to the airport? Nothing. When again I paid double the price for transportation than what I prepaid with them. Sadly dissatisfied and disappointed. To Filedelphia, You’re a sad excuse of a company and I hope your business sees serious improvements in the near future. If it does not and you continue to treat customers like this I sincerely hope for your failure and downfall. We had transportation scheduled for 2 people weeks in advance to our arrival and departure out of San Jose International Airport (SJO). Paid in FULL at the time of booking the transportation service through Filadelfia. Excited to began our trip, we arrive at 7:40pm, on time - go through customs and gather our one bag at baggage claim. We were told there would be someone waiting outside the exit doors outside in the front of the taxi station with a sign with our name on it. We walk through the jumble of people to not find our name. We reach out to the company via text, they respond “Sorry, our driver is nearby, an accident occurred that has him delayed, apologies about 15 minutes.” The company sent this at 8pm - 20 minutes after our original pick up time. Being understanding that things happen, we continue to wait. Finally at 8:50pm, the driver arrives. He never apologizes to us and says it was his fault, he left later than he was supposed to. Wanting to enjoy our trip - we let it go! Oh - you thought it couldn’t get worse. You GUESSED WRONG !! On our day of departure, we keep our plans and stay with the same company. Our pick up time was at 5am, since we departed at 8:55am and were Puntarenas, over an hour away from the SJO airport. Right at 5am, we get a text from the company saying, “Morning, our driver had an accident on the road and will not be able to arrive now, what time is your flight departure?” As we scramble to find transportation at 5am… thinking maybe there is hope they will send someone else. NOTHING, they do not do a single thing other than leave us STRANDED. After we respond with our departure time, they respond, “Please take a local transport and we will make your refund. So sorry, it’s out of our control.” I am sorry, I understand things happen but this literally left us stranded. After explaining, we wanted a full refund not just the one way back for our departure, they accused us of “taking advantage of the situation.” They responded to us with “Ooops, do you want to take advantage of this situation?” at 6:53am. Why in the world would we want to do such a thing, the company literally left us stranded at our resort with minimal time to figure out a back up plan at 5am. Regardless to say, we had to spend double the money for a taxi, which we had to wait until 5:30am to be picked up because they left us stranded with ZERO help. I hate writing bad reviews, but honestly this company deserves absolutely no stars and no more business. I love supporting locals when traveling abroad, but this is just unacceptable. The company has gone completely quiet now, still have not received a refund of any sort. Scam!! Avoid it at all costs.Written May 19, 2023

Alec was so friendly, and kindly stopped twice along the way at a couple of fruit stands for us. It was so much easier to have him negotiate the currency exchange too. Communications with Filadelfia Shuttle was prompt and at the best price. Thank you for making our transportation so effortless!Written March 4, 2023
- swethai20140 contributionsAvoid at all costs!Worst company ever. We’ve traveled around the world quite a bit, worked with so many service providers but never had a horrible experience such as this. We were a party of 13 and booked every one of our transfers and tours in Costa Rica through them. The transport to and from the Airports were fine but we had a tour to Monteverde and a Catamaran rental for 4 hrs that they messed up. The driver that was to pick us up to take us to Monteverde was late and didn’t seem to know his way around the area. He got us to the Selvatura park park almost an hr late because of which we never got to do all the zip line activity we were supposed to do and paid for. About the Catamaran excursion, after confirming that it was a Catamaran several times, we reached the beach to find a sailboat. Our kids get sea sick and that was the reason we paid for a catamaran specifically. We tried to reach Mary and have her fix it but she simply refused. We had paid $1700 for this activity. I attempted to call her several times but she never answered her phone. I asked for a refund only for the Catamaran activity and she kept repeating we can’t be refunded since we refused to go on the Catamaran. MY point was that it was NOT a Catamaran. Mary from Filadelfia shuttle says that we CHOSE not to do the activity and go on the boat they provided but the fact is that they did NOT provide what they invoiced us for. I have an invoice and WhatsApp messages where she confirmed it would be a Catamaran. We had kids who started to feel sick just waiting on the sailboat while we tried to get this sorted out. Why would we agree to go on a sailboat for 4 hrs when we were told a catamaran? When we complained, Mary also said that the activity we wanted would be $3000 for a catamaran but my question is why did they charge us $1700 to begin with and confirm it would be a catamaran? We had already paid the full amount in advance so it was our intention to have fun and enjoy what we paid for. She wouldn’t answer a single call - I also have proof of that. Extremely unprofessional and terrible customer service. Don’t ever book with them since they clearly cheated us!Written April 5, 2022

They shared another more reputable company’s website with us and took advantage of the fact that we are foreigners. We planned all our transfers and a few activities with this company. Our driver arrived an hour late to pick us up and got lost on the way to one of our activities. Due do their poor management we were not able to go zip lining which we had paid for in advance. They did not credit us back for it. We had also booked a boating excursion with them. After communicating numerous times that we are booking a catamaran that can fit 13 people comfortable they gave us a sailboat that is small for even 8 people. Had they even given us the courtesy and told us that the vessel we originally booked is not available we wouldn’t have wasted 3 hours. But here is the real kicker. They refused to refund us the money for their mistake! We have reached out to them numerous times and they are ignoring us and there is no resolution. We have traveled around the world and interacted with numerous businesses and I can tell you this is the worst company we have dealt with. Not professional and just outright rude. I would strongly advice going with another company. I am hoping people learn from our horrible experience and don’t make the same mistake.Written March 31, 2022
