- BlueBlueSea0 contributionsAwesome Crew and Unforgettable ExperienceOther than spending some time during the holidays with my youngest sister who lives in Indonesia, this was the highligt of my trip! I booked this as a gift to my mom and sister and did not regret it. Ami was a knowledgeable, kind and went above and beyond to make sure our experience was great. We saw so many Orangutans as well as other monkeys! Ample time was provided at each stop and our guide made sure to show us other flora and fauna on the walk in and out, so we learned so much about Borneo. The cook was a wonderful woman who provided such filling a delicious meals! It was nice to float along the river and relax from the stress of day to day and I even spotted an Orangutan hanging out as we floated by. The captain and second captain were awesome, too, they expertly guided the boat through the river and got us tied up so we could get to shore. Thank you, Ami and crew for a truly unforgettable experience, just wish I hadn't caught a bug as I would have been able to enjoy it so much more.Written January 4, 2025

- Jeannettewimbledon0 contributionsFantastic 3 day/2 night boat tour! ⭐️Excellent communication from Riyan right from the outset. Responsive and super attentive to our requests and very courteous. We booked the 3 day/2 night private boat tour for myself & husband and it was perfect! 👌 Our helpful, knowledgeable and friendly English speaking guide, Krishna, escorted us throughout the trip and along with the expert boat crew and cook we had a marvellous trip! 😁🤩 We saw lots of native wildlife and flora including Orangutans, Proboscis monkeys, Macaques, Kingfishers, butterflies as well as fireflies, snakes, spiders, bats and creatures of the night on our‘night-walk’. Fabulous! 👌🦧🌿 The on-board hospitality was excellent! The meals and snacks were delicious and abundant and the cook and crew did their utmost to ensure our comfort and enjoyment at all times. The facilities were simple and rustic but very comfortable. A fantastic trip that I’d highly recommend! 👍⭐️♥️Written September 30, 2024
- Kirsten B0 contributionsUnforgettable nature and orangutan experienceAn absolute highlight of my trip to Indonesia, which no one should miss if they love nature, wildlife and a bit of adventure and are not put off by the simple equipment of the boat. (The shower didn't want to work, but washing with water from the washtub works too. So if you expect luxury or think that this great, unique experience can also be done on a "day trip" (or compared to a day trip to Komodo) then you're definitely in the wrong place here.) The tour was very well organized (always a little away from the crowds if possible) and the contact beforehand via WhatsApp with Riyan, the tour operator, was very friendly. My guide Ana in particular was so lovely. She was able to tell me a lot about nature and of course about the orangutans and all the other animals that are there. Also about life in Kalimantan. Simply unforgettable. The crew (Romy, Iman and Ernie (cook)) also made sure I didn't miss anything. The food was very tasty and always more than enough. Ana and Romy were always on the lookout for animals during the trip so that I didn't miss anything. The overnight stays on the boat with the jungle noises were unforgettable. The encounters with the orangutans at the various feeding stations were unique. The short trekking tours during the day and at night were great. Ana also gave me a very close look at life in the village of Sekonyer and I was lucky enough to be able to see children being taught traditional dance. Overall, 10 out of 5 stars for this tour ;-)Written September 19, 2024
- eriuf0 contributionsSuperb tour!Orangutan 🦧 Tour: We enjoyed the orangutan tour so much. We were very happy with our guide, the boat and crew. The driver met us at the airport and we were driven to our boat straight away. It was an easy effortless process. The boat was charming and they made us feel like home straight away. Our guide made sure we were comfortable , offering us water, coffee and snacks as soon as we arrived on the boat. Moreover, As we are both vegetarian (I get a bit worried about this whilst traveling) he also ensured that our meals were all vegetarian for the entire two day stay. As a side note and to our pleasant surprise, the food was incredible!!!! The best we’ve had so far on our trip throughout Indonesia. As We were on our way into the jungle, our guide pointed out the various wildlife on the route. There were birds, many Proboscis monkeys and gibbons and other monkeys in the trees. The captain would slow down and stop at locations so we could get a better view and take pictures. We also saw crocodiles lurking in the waters in route to the areas where the orangutans were. Our guide was ensuring to stop and give us plenty of information about whatever creature we passed, he had a very good knowledge of all the wildlife and he was so easy to understand as he was fluent in English which was very helpful. Our first stop was the first feeding station. To our surprise, we were so lucky to see an orangutan swinging from the trees and make his way over to us as we were walking the trail to the feeding station! It was epic! We were able to capture it all on video and took pictures with the orangutan . Our guide even offered to take some pictures for us. Then we proceeded to the feeding station where orangutans and many gibbons and other monkeys appeared to feast on bananas and sweet potatoes. The tour ended with a visit to Camp Leakey which was a dream to visit! There was another feeding station and we saw more orangutans here and a flying squirrel as well! If you want to see orangutans and other wildlife throughout the borneo jungle and enjoy your two days on a boat , then this tour will fit all your requirements and more! It was an unforgettable experience! It was an experience of a lifetime and we are so happy we booked with our tour guide.Written August 20, 2024
- FRANCISCO70 contributionsBad toiletAbout boat tour: The good part: The boat is beautiful, so is the tour, the crew and guide are great, extremely kind, they do everything they can to please, the food is good. The river trip through the jungle and the orogotango stations are stunning. The bad part: But for accommodation, the boat is horrible. Mainly the bathroom. The toilet leaked dirty water when flushed, flooding the floor. Disgusting. The cold water shower is squeezed between the bathroom wall and the toilet, next to the toilet, with a dirty floor. I only found out 8 hours after the boat left. With the toilet damaged and leaking sewage water, the bathroom was unsanitary and the boat should not have left in these conditions. So I stayed 2 days and 1 night and asked to go back to Pangkalanbuun, and paid for 2 nights at the hotel, instead of staying on the boat. On the boat it was impossible or unhealthy to shower, brush teeth and defecate. Urinating was possible, but without flushing. There was even a crew member scratching his head, picking something up, squeezing it and throwing it away. It probably had lice. I will now give a useful tip to other travelers: Before Borneo I was in Komodo and was going to stay on a boat for 3 days. Until I read the review of a tourist who made similar complaints about accommodation on the boat and she said that unfortunately she only found out later that she could have stayed in a hotel in the city of Labuan Bajo and taken the same boat or fast boat trips, going and returning the same day, staying in a high quality hotel. That's what I did and luckily I read this review on Komodo. Here I discovered that it is the same thing. Unfortunately later, like the tourist from Komodo. It is possible to stay in the city and take a boat trip, return on the same day, in the same places. There are day options on Viator. Of course, there are those who prefer the boat and don't care about comfort and a boat in poor condition. But for those who care about a minimum of comfort, you can stay in Pangkalanbuun and take a day trip, and sleep in a good hotel, in a nice city. In short, I only enjoyed the first day of the 3 days. Because of an unusable, disgusting and unhealthy bathroom. Suggestion: improve the bathroom and the tour will be great.Written July 21, 2024
- Annabel C0 contributionsI was very pleased. The time of the year limited the amount of Orangutans that we’re feeding. But the staff tried very hard to see to it I was satisfiedWritten February 6, 2024
- C2919HNhugo0 contributionsAmazing experience!Riyan was a great host and organized for us 2 beautiful trips. We went with him to a small Dayak village where we had the chance to witness a traditional cerimony, sleep in the jungle, and learn about the Dayak traditions and life style. We then sailed with his beautiful boat to the national park Tanjung Puting. Here we had an amazing staying and got spoiled by his perfect crew. Definitely recommended!Written August 2, 2019
