About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 946jjjj0 contributionsGreat day outAmazing tour we loved seeing the large seal colony and we got to see a large pod of dolphins! Skull island was awesome and got to tick off going to the most southerly point of Australia mainland and the most southern Australia mainland lighthouse. The guys were great and made the tour fun!!!Written January 31, 2024
- lindasW9591UG0 contributionsAwesome tourThe tour was awesome! We had nice skippers who take care of us! The boats are spectacular because they run on the beach, you go directly on top of the boat.Written January 30, 2024
- phil l0 contributionsOne of the best guided tours anywhere in the worldThis was an extraordinary, unique and brilliant experience, very well organised with the pre departure crew being friendly and polite. Sam and H were our captain/tour guide and they were fantastic. The scenery is spectacular. The wildlife, including seals was incredible. But the obvious highlight was seeing a pod of nine orcas frolicking in the ocean. Our captain changed up the tour so we got to spend a good 40 minutes following these magnificent creatures. It almost topped skull rock, almost. It is a must do. Oh and my daughter who is very prone to sea sickness was absolutely fine.Written January 16, 2024
- X272CYtonyk0 contributionsWonderful Wildlife CruiseWe went on the Wildlife Cruise and it was exhilarating. All our three children aged 7-14 had an amazing time. The boat felt like a rollercoaster skimming across the ocean. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable and funny too. We got to see a colony of seals and also visit the majestic skull island. Thanks for an amazing time!Written January 15, 2024

- lesleydI9178OU0 contributionsYou’ll marvel at the PromWe did the trip yesterday and, although the weather wasn’t great, the experience was wonderful. Our two guides were knowledgeable, they handled the boat skilfully, the scenery was amazing. We did the Bruny Island trip a few years ago but this was far better. Scenery you’ll never see other than by boat. Great value.Written December 11, 2023
- Rebecca S0 contributionsLOVED IT!!!Can not recommend this company and the day highly enough. This is our second trip with Pennicott and they are amazing. Skull Island is a place you definitely have to see with your own eyes.Written February 6, 2023
- Frog-Aus0 contributionsA fantastic dayWe had a terrific day down the east coast of Wilsons promontory. Leaving from Pt Welshpool in the morning mist, the sun came out on and off and we had a varied appreciation of this spectacular coast with its sandy beaches, magnificent rocks and majestic hills. The crew was friendly and particularly well organised. WE enjoyed multiple coffees and biscuits, morning and afternoon tea. The lunch was very well presented in individual little boxes with bamboo cutlery , plentiful and tasty. It as great having a warm potato as we admired the scenery on the top deck . The 2 hours stopover in Refuge cove gave us the opportunity for a walk, Highlights were the numerous seals sunning themselves and jumping off into the sea from seal rock and the dolphins following the boat on 2 different occasions..Written April 12, 2021
- terryg1250 contributionsWilson’s Prom CruisesWe have been coming to “The Prom” for 50 years and the Wilson’s Prom cruise we did recently was the best thing we have ever done here. Our skipper Justin and our guide Sam were professional, knowledgeable, friendly and superb hosts who guided us from Norman Bay and out to South Point, the lighthouse, Skull Rock and home via glimpses of The Glennies. Along the way we were entertained and tutored about flora, fauna and animals that included Sea Eagles, Falcons, Seals and even a juvenile Humpback whale that we saw up close and personal. What a fabulous experience, that I highly recommend. Terry Green.Written February 26, 2021
- kingt5590 contributionsFantastic day at Wilson’s PromontoryWow have these guys got it right. Friendly staff who were just so helpful all day. The food oh my it was good. Morning tea, lunch, dessert and an awesome fruit platter for arvo tea. All individually served being very COVID safe. The scenery was just spectacular. Crystal clear waters and a boulders of all shapes and sizes created such a picturesque views of the Prom. The cruise went for 9 hours and other than the hour and half we were ashore, swimming in Refuge cove we were spotting seals and loads of native birds. Certainly the best way to see Wilson’s Prom. I will certainly go again.Written January 31, 2021
- Jenn-aus0 contributionsSummer Prom cruisePerfect sunshiny day on the water, exciting trip, pretty bumpy on the way out so grateful for the ginger tablets provided. Skull rock was sensational, loved the playful seals and was fabulous to see the lighthouse. I’ve stayed and hiked at the Prom a dozen times but this new perspective was amazing. Thanks Dave for just the right balance of humour, passion and commentary.Written January 23, 2021
- 407annaw0 contributionsAbsolutely Awesome! This was an absolutely awesome experience! Having sailed in Europe and NZ I can honestly say this was up there with an uniquely Australian feel and experience. From the moment we stepped into the front office we felt welcomed by Tara to the boys on the boat Toby and Sam who were so caring informative and friendly. Scull rock was unique and so amazing up close, the photos don’t do it justice. Would definitely recommend and do this trip again, I feel there would be something new to see every time! Worth every $ and our teenage kids loved it.Written January 16, 2021
- JoD_Melbourne0 contributionsSpectacular scenery and fun experienceStunning boating experience along the Prom coast, down to the southern most tip of Australia and around spectacular islands abundant with seal life. I didn’t feel sea sick (thanks to the ginger tablets that were offered). The crew were very knowledgeable, friendly and talented boat handlers. - lisagB452PY0 contributionsWilson’s prom tour with hundreds of seals.!The Pennicott cruise around Wilson’s prom exceeded our expectations. The boat is really appropriate - small enough but super stable and fast when it needs to be., handled the swell really well., plenty of time to stand up when you’re at the Wright s and take pics.. up close..! The staff were very professional, knew a lot, pointed out interesting facts and locations., all with a dash of Aussie humour. The seals were a stand out.... so many seals.!!! And so happy to be around the boat.. the rules are well laid out around safety and presently health and social distancing etc., fantastic wind breaker jackets provided., all super clean and new and comfy... highly recommend this for any age. We had pre booked online for a specific date that we would be travelling near Wilson’s Promontory for the full day tour on a Wednesday.
We received a phone call on the Tuesday afternoon to advise us that the weather was going to chop up rough and did we want to defer.
It went ahead with 6 people and yes it was rough and we got some sprayed but we were well rugged up and enjoyed the day immensely. Dave skippered the boat as gentle as possible and slowed regularly to show us points of interest along the rugged coastline.
The lunch spot at Sealer’s Cove was a piece of paradise.
We saw seals, albatross, white bellied sea eagles, cape baron geese and many more.

It was an amazing experience altogether!
From communication to on boat experience, everything was on point. Amphibious Boats start from the beach, which itself is an interesting experience. The operators are quite strict about the rules (seat belts/ life jackets etc.) , which is a plus, and they also try to cater all practical special requests (back pain etc.). The boat gives the thrill of speed boats, when in full throttle. They have good knowledge regarding the area and their presentation is quite humorous and enjoyable. You will be able to see some native wildlife, and the southern point of Victoria, with some historical background of the lighthouse and now submerged Bassian Plain . We were lucky to see lots of dolphins, which were spotted by one of the boats, and being communicated to other 2. Dolphins were swimming very close to the boats, felt like they were enjoying the company of the boats.
Overall the whole package is value for money, considering the location, communication, safety, condition of the boats, guides etc. We loved it, and cannot recommend it highly enough.
Thank you Wilson promontory cruise!

We did a Wilderness Cruise and can only recommend it. The weather was slightly stormy, so the afternoon and next day tours were canceled. We were lucky that our tour still took place. It was already raining on our way out, but with the ponchos provided it was bearable. Due to the weather, the route of the tour was adjusted so that we were still able to experience the seal colony and Skulls Rock in dry conditions. The skipper Damian steered the boat through the waves with a sensitivity that was very impressive. What we liked best, however, was that the whole time on the tour was about nature and the animals and that we always had enough time to take in the scenery! You never felt like you were on a tourist vessel chasing from one sight to another. We can recommend this tour to any nature lover! Maddy and Damian shared their fascination for the bass and its wildlife with us during the whole tour by giving exciting explanations and facts. Thank you Damian & Maddy for this great experience with you! The Rauesee turned the whole thing into a real adventure, but we always felt 100% safe with you on board!
It should also be emphasized that the skipper always kept his distance from the animals, and especially from the young ones. In places where he knew from his in-depth knowledge of the area that only male animals were present, he approached them accordingly, and you could also see the joy and curiosity of the seals about the boat.
And Damian also made a lot of effort when I had my telephoto lens out to keep the boat still and not accelerate or steer abruptly, thanks for that!

We had a wonderful experience with the very fun and knowledgeable crew. Our trip was initially cancelled due to strong winds, but we managed to go on the ride the next day. The ride was quite rough—not for the faint-hearted!
The crew was professional, warning passengers about the rough conditions and giving everyone the option to opt out with a full refund. Thankfully, my elderly parents braved the ride and made it through, though they’ve sworn they won’t be doing it again!
Despite the challenging weather, the scenery was breathtaking, and the guide on board was very insightful, sharing great details about the area. Overall, a memorable trip!

Crew and organisation was very professional but the weather didn't cooperate unfortunately and our trip was cut short by an hour, with the return trip pretty wet, rough and unpleasant. Not the organisation's fault as they have no control over the weather but if I went again in winter, I'd try booking closer to the day so weather conditions were more accurate. We booked nearly a week out worried we'd miss out but the boat was not full so we needn't have worried. We did see seals and some whales but at a distance. The full water-proof ponchos were no match for the conditions and we got wet regardless. Take care with phones!

Thank you, Sophie, for this informative review. We're sorry the weather didn't cooperate and affected your trip; we understand how disappointing that can be, especially during winter when weather conditions can be unpredictable. We appreciate your understanding and feedback about the ponchos; we'll look into ways to improve the experience in such conditions. Thank you for sharing your experience with us, and we hope to see you next time with better weather!

We went on the 5.5hr trip on the last Wednesday in November - booked a few days ahead but incredibly wary of the horrible weather forecast. Thankfully it wasn’t cancelled and weather was perfect for the day. Dave and Jackson were great, providing a good mix of knowledge and fun! The landscapes are just magnificent and truly otherworldly, the cruise is worth it for that alone. But we also saw eagles, seals 🦭 (so many seals! Also caught a few unaware!) I enjoyed seeing the seabirds feeding on schools of fish - you could see the surface of the ocean shimmer with fish, just crazy. Absolute highlight was Dave spotting a whale 🐋! We hung around for quite a while, and saw it multiple times, it also came right up to the boat - just insane!! It’s absolutely not whale season right now so I wasn’t expecting it at all, but that image is burnt into my brain. Waterloo bay is absolutely gorgeous, and at all viewpoints, the guys rotate the boat so it doesn’t matter what side you’re on, you will get to see. You also get a bit of history of the prom which is great. Heading back to shore we could spy the storm we all worried about, but we beat it back. Our time on the water for the day was clear and sunshine, absolutely flawless 10/10 would absolutely do it again! Thank you!

This is probably the best activity you can do at Wilson's Prom. We have been staying at the Prom for 40 years and thought we had done it all, but this is something new, and it was fantastic. Our pilot and guide, Chris, was 1st class--funny, informative, friendly, clear, knowledgeable, everything you look for in a guide for this type of activity. The boats are very comfortable and safe. You get to see parts of the Prom that are otherwise inaccessible (unless you are the hardiest of bushwalkers). Seeing Skull Rock close up was brilliant, but the highlight was the pod of dolphins that followed us into Norman Bay, right next to the boat. The trip lasts for over two hours and offers great value for money. Just one thing to be aware of: take note of the conditions. We were lucky to go out on a day with virtually no wind and little swell. I think it would be a very different experience in rougher conditions. A 100% recommended addition to your Prom experience.

Great trip. Weather wasn't so great with rain first half, however this turned the trip into a lot of fun going through the waves. The crew really looked after us prior with ginger to prevent any motion sickness and during the trip making sure all on board were ok especially us at the front. The weather conditions made the trip a lot more fun having the waterproof overall gear we put on keeping us 100% dry. We went to all the places I wanted to see and my teenage boys really enjoyed ourselves. My youngest son and myself couldn't stop laughing when we hit the occasional wave (once again the weather was a factor in this) with the front of the boat being like a theme park ride but in a fun way. We chose the front knowing this, and the back and middle of the boat was a lot more stable over the waves. I had done a 50km hike to the Southern point of the Australian main land and the lighthouse 8 years prior and it was great to revisit these parts and show my boys. Crew were really good and knowledgeable, and we were able to see a lot of wildlife including seals, and rare birds and appreciate the awesomeness of the coastline from an angle we had never seen being part of it smack bang in the middle as a 3d experience as opposed to afar or watching on TV. The crew really helped us learn a lot about the area, and we had plenty of opportunities to stop at take in each of the highlights and take photos while exploring the coastline and around the islands. Skull Rock was all it was hyped up to be. Really glad I went and highly recommend in any weather condition. Great memories myself and my boys will keep forever, thanks for the crew for making our camping weekend so awesome. Do yourself a favour :)

I went recently on the Wilsons Promontory Wilderness Cruise with a friend, and we both had a wonderful time. The boats themselves are quite remarkable, and our host, Chris, was excellent. He was enthusiastic, funny, and extremely well informed. Great attention was paid to safety, but there was still plenty of room for adventure and excitement. We saw Australian fur seals, common dolphins, and many species of bird, but perhaps the highlight was when a black-browed albatross flew very low right over our boat to check us out. Even Chris appeared to be impressed! It was great value for money, and I strongly recommend this cruise to anybody keen for a glimpse of Australia's wilder places.

Amazing experience. Driving on the beach in a boat directly out into the water was surreal. Seeing the Prom from the water was absolutely spectacular. We got to see so many things that would otherwise be inaccessible. The wildlife was abundant - birds, fish and seals. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and provided heaps of information without talking the entire time. The skipper was great at maneuvering the boat so that people on each side had a chance to view each spot. The guides were also helpful with taking photos. Definitely a life highlight for us. If you are going to the The Prom - take the opportunity to join this cruise!!!
