- AustraliaKetut00A Bath With Socks, Crowds and an Angry Masseuse - The McDonald's of Thermal Spas?!My husband and I have been visiting various thermal spas in Catalonia since 2011. He surprised me with a gift certificate for a 45" "Love Connection" couples massage here and we booked the Mas Salagros hotel ro make a weekend of it. As we go to thermal spas 1-2 times a year we expected a relaxing experience. It is a beautiful location but the experience is very rule bound and way too many people are in the spa at once. As soon as you arrive, you get wristbands, then you are instructed to go to the dressing rooms to change in to your bathers and put on their robe and... aquatic non-slip slippers made of some kind of wet suit material which you must wear the entire time, even in the baths. Have a bath at home with a candle on, with a couple of other people you don't know there, with your socks on in the bath, that may give you an idea of what this experience is like. The socks you must wear are really uncomfortable and filled with water. We have never had to wear these at any other spa. Each bath had about 4 other people in it at a time. At one stage the small floating pool had 5 people. Never encountered this many people at the spas in La Garriga and Caldes or Fairmont, etc etc Ok, the massage. I asked politely for only my back to be done, for my own personal reasons I didn't want the face up massage and, well, it is my body and we did pay over 200€ for the experience so we should choose, no?! The female masseuse allocated to me was very angry and asked in a confrontational manner "Why do you only want your back massaged?" Then proceeded to repeat how "this is how we do it here." It felt so combative and uncomfortable, I really wanted to leave but, of course it's hard to say I want to leave and not continue with this, and I really don't want you to touch me without a possible drama from an angry person. So, instead of dealing with a reaction to this from her, in what was supposed to be a relaxing place, I looked at my husband with a bit of desperation and we got on with it. Once started, my husband asked how I was. We've had 2 couples massages in the past and could talk. I did say to him, well, what starts poorly doesn't feel good as a polite way of trying to tell him, it was stressful. The guy massaging him said to us firmly "Silence" and we were ordered not to talk in the expensive couples massage "love connection" experience that felt like an oppressive entrapment. Honestly, I wanted to get up and leave but the stress of staying outweighed the concern of the stress of dealing with the reaction if we left. We ended with fruit juice in plastic bottles and no truffles as paid for. We had to request this as noone came to offer. I explained this experience to the women at reception and they seemed to take it seriously and I was grateful they were attentive and caring. Ultimately, I wouldn't return here as there are other much more relaxing thermal baths where you do not have to wear anti-slip socks of wetsuit material or feel bombarded with rules. This place is the McDonald's of Roman Baths. It's a conveyer belt and if people tried other, less famous baths in Catalonia, they'd see just how relaxing a thermal spa can *really* be. Lose the water booties, spread the customers out and give a little more trust and freedom to your customers to improve. And lose the rigid, angry masseuse who doesn't respect customers' bodily autonomy and consent.
- seaxprs201800Relaxing spa ina quiet valley only a half hour drive from BarcelonaStay at the hotel and enjoy the spa for free, the 2 other outdoor pools, and Bio restaurants in this eco resort. The spa pools alternate hot and cold in various zen rooms housed in an early stone barn, part of a farm started in the late 1700's on the site of a Roman hot springs, even a sauna.
- MuratD_1300Paradise of PeacefulnessWe’ve had dozens of massages over the years, but when they take place in a fabulous spa - it just adds something extra special. Aire Ancient Baths in Vallromanes is truly one of a kind, as it transports you to a world of zen and tranquility within a breathtaking space of several thermal baths and treatment rooms. The photos on social media and online simply don’t do it justice. It’s an experience that needs to be felt, seen, heard, smelled and even tasted. The saltwater baths are available in numerous temperatures, from cold to hot and everything in between. Your senses are all activated as you make your way throughout the different experiential baths. Indoor, outdoor, jetted, wet sauna, rain shower and floating pools allow you to lose yourself during the 90 minute water circuit. We visited twice in 4 days and opted for two additional treatments: a 60 minute relaxation massage as well as an all over exfoliation. The guys who worked on our exfoliation were super professional, they communicated to us what was going to take place and were overall excellent spa attendants. They smiled and we had a little laugh as well. We were truly made to feel comfortable and in the end we left the spa completely and utterly rejuvenated and relaxed. I highly recommend the body massage and certainly for 60 minutes. You will never feel better. I can’t wait to visit their other locations in Spain and in Chicago/NYC, and why not for another visit in Vallromanes. Paris is just a 2 hour flight away.
- InlovewGstaad00Very romanticLovely old building, looks like a cave, romantic lighting, multiple pools, one, outside. She staff excellent, but others didn't know if the water was chlorinated or salinated, nor if the adjacent hotel had swimming pools- (they have two, beautiful, outdoor pools). Clean dressing/showering area. Set in gorgeous countryside.
- ahervello00Great spa venueVery peaceful, clean and relaxing experience. Highly recommended. Massage was also fantastic. The only backside is that after all this water/massage encounters, you get starved and aim to engulf whatever.
- Bluebellplasnewydd00Out of world experienceThis is a strange place. Situated largely underground, although there is a gap where you can wade outside, it consists of a number of pools. They vary in temperature from fairly hot to very cold. The whole place is in dim light with soothing music being played. Tea is provided and there is also a massage facility. The staff explain everything and are very helpful. The pools themselves are small and therefore can appear crowded if there are more than 6 people relaxing in them. I am not sure what health benefits occur from visiting but it is a pleasant experience. I am not sure how eco friendly it is to heat them - unless of course they are supplied by hot springs from deep underground.
- Alex E00Fantastic Spa at the Mas Salagros HotelWe loved this perfectly built spa situated on old Roman baths. The service was exceptional and the treatments were fantastic. My wife got an amazing hair treatment with real gold and loved it. I totally relaxed in their numerous pools and saunas. You should definitely visit this spa!
- jaffajames00WowDidn't really know what we were going to. This place is amazing. We walked around in white robes with hoods to just candle lighting. We relaxed in hot tubs cold tubs & salt pools. We then had the most amazing massage that we have ever had finished with champagne & chocolates. A really amazing experience!
- Peacefulretreats00Delightful relaxationBaths and massage area were uniquely and tastefully presented. Design very respectful of nature and had a truly, ancient, yet modern, clean feel.
- Tamerlans00700RelaxingLovely ancien Catalan house transformed into a spa. Here you can find Roman style baths with Arabic atmosphere. The staff is really helpful. The only negative point is the temperature, when you move from one pool to another you feel the cold during the winter months.
- Isgirl_in_MA00Floating on AireI am so glad we spent the time to visit this spa...it was wonderful! Didn't really know what to expect, since spas can differ quite a bit, but we walked in and they had availability for us on the spot. They provide everything--locker room facilities, a swimsuit, non-skid pull-on slippers, and approximately an hour and a half to enjoy the amenities. My husband and I were able to take dips in the hot pool, the tepid pool and the cold pool. There was also a salt water pool where we spent most of our time, where you can float, which I have been fortunate enough to be able to do in the states in individual, private, chambers. This was open and relaxing, and probably the reason why we spent the majority of time here. There was also a wet steam room, an aromatherapy pool and jacuzzis available to enjoy. The time was a little too short--two hours would have been divine! Nevertheless, great atmosphere and a bargain price compared to what this would cost in the states. Loved the experience here!
- CO195800AmazingIf you go you must try the baths and a treatment; The staff here are lovely, the experience just marvellous :)
- Katherine C00Unique experienceSix baths to choose from, children's hour Sat and Sun mornings. Even the 8 and 10 year old boys liked it!! The most relaxing experience (especially without my children!!) the floatarium is amazing.
- therese s00Amazing place to visit!!We stayed here 3 nights and were never disappointed. The rooms are super cosy and had everything we wanted. The resort is beautiful and really peaceful and the staff are friendly. I loved the spa experience and my skin now feels amazing. I couldn't think of one complaint except our time ended too quickly!
- BAM7300What a Treat!!Admittedly, I'm a lover of all things Roman. So this modern rendition of a Roman Bath (and Hamam) was over the top. We enjoyed the multi temperature pools, and I even drifted off to sleep floating in th e saltwater one. How decadent to relax in a robe on heated marble seats enjoying mint tea or flavored water.

We took the Valentine package.
Until we got there we has received no instructions and did not know what to bring (and not) but luckily we had our swimming trunks with us.
The place is really nice, clean, with the right lighting, music and amount of pools with perfect temperatures. The massages were super professional and we had plenty of time to relax with the 2h session we had booked.
The surroundings are also beautiful and the road from Barcelona allows you to see a lot of beautiful haciendas and vineyards.
Totally worth it. I heard about this place through a friend luckily because Google never listed it for thermal baths in Catalonia.
