    Interesting and informative
Nice little museum with lots of interesting artifacts. Download the app before you descend into the tunnel (before you lose internet connection).

Full of interesting tableau’s on many aspects of the Great War, German Axis and Allied
There is a lot here, relics of the minutiae, uniforms, weaponry, all manner of things, set out in the tunnel right beside the great church, and leading to a remarkable and beautiful garden

Not the Best in the Area
This museum contains some interesting exhibits, but it is dated and doesn’t attemp to give the visitor an overall understanding of the battle or the war. The video consists of drone shots of various monuments in their current state, unlike other museums, which provide better historical detail. I don’t regret spending the time or money, but am glad we hit three other museums during our tour of the battlefield.

    Great little museum
Stumbled across this museum while in Albert, looks small from the outside, but it’s like a tardis! Just WOW!! So worth the money, full of interesting artefacts & information. Highly recommended.

The best Museum of WWI in France!
You are taken through tunnels with artefacts relating to the trenches of WWI. Very informative, very moving, a Museum that should be on everyone's number one list.

The Battle of the Somme Expertly Descibed
This is the museum to go to for you need to know all about this infamous region during WW1. The exhibits are well presented in a time line that explains it all. Both French and English are used to explain them and it is a place you could spend many hours if you read all the , sometimes very sad, reports and information given.

    Gives you some idea...
of the hell that soldiers went through, back in July 1916. Every day, farmers in the region will unearth some buried relic on the First World War: a length of barbed wire, dead ammunition, live ammunition, some dead soldier's personal effect - and the museum, housed in a complex underground tunnel system, has them all. What brought it alive to me was the mock-up of a trench [ too clean and sanitized- no mud, no stench] the the NOISE as the battles raged, the flashing lights as shells exploded, the endless rattle of machine guns --tactfully they left out the cries of the wounded and dying, but their lives are there: the rusty bayonet, a battered tin of dubbin, the pop bottles and marmalade jars, tunnel after tunnel of display cases. The examples of artistic trench art from the shells that lay around them. They have created an atmosphere, they recognise the power of their displays by warning that this is not for children, the timid, those with epilepsy or an active imagination. WE will remember them !!

    Pay By Cash
Interesting Museum but when entering I did a contactless payment which the lady said had not gone through so I tried again. When I got statement at end of month I saw I had been charged twice!

    Worth a visit
This museum is based in the tunnels that provided shelter for residents during the war. They have a wonderful collection and exhibit that is interesting and worth the visit.

    Must see museum
Visited Albert as part of an organised battlefields tour of the Somme region - entry into the museum included. Very good and informative displays providing insight and context for the experiences of the soldiers who served during World War 1. Number of artefacts displayed with dugout reconstructions etc. Fascinating to see and enhances your appreciation of the experiences of those who fought. Would recommend.

    Great Museum
This museum is housed in a subterranean passage that was actually a bomb shelter in WW2. The quality of the exhibit is very good with realistic dioramas of life in the WW1 trenches. Definitely worth a visit.

    Great museum
Buried deep beneath the basilica in the centre of Albert this museum, which is in a long tunnel has plenty to see and plenty to read. A great morning out.

This museum was put together more than 30y ago (1991). Back then it probably looked pretty good, now it just looks a bit tired.

Has a nice collection of stuff, and models of trench conditions. But no real story of what was going on with the battle. Why were the losses so high? Was was so little ground gained?

For a much more comprehensive story along with updated visual effects I recommend you go to the Battle of Verdun Museum about 100km south.

I was only visiting Albert as part of a family history trip, and didn't know about the museum until I got there. I'm so glad I found out about it! The video at the beginning of the museum is very informative. The museum houses many original artifacts which are brought to life with the descriptions beside each exhibit. The most interesting part for me was the badges at the end of the museum which represented many of the regiments who had thought during the Somme. Would highly recommend if you were in the area!

Sited in the tunnels under Albert, the museum is a must stop for anyone visiting the Somme. Admission was €10 each and well worth it. The exhibits are extensive and well presented, with information boards along the way giving background and then taking you through the years 1914 - 1918. A great couple of hours; informative and enjoyable.

Excellent museum. Really cool that it set in the tunnels under the town. The set up of the museum is really good as it varies between information boards, items, scenes set up and I think caters well to all visitors. Not the first museum to come up in a search but well worth a visit and one of the good ones we visited while in France

This is a fabulous place to visit. Incredibly informative and interesting. Plenty for children to do - three teenagers really enjoyed it. The fact it is housed in a tunnel and gives the history of thjs is also fascinating. Well worth a visit

We came here on a rainy day and I didn't know what to expect. It's a lot of WW1 memorabilia - everything from uniforms to guns, photographs, newspaper clips and much more. I found it well organised - you walk through an old tunnel that is likely to have been used during the war (although it was not constructed then). Focus is on the experience of war rather than glorification or justification.
You come out in a different street - that was kind of fun. We both liked this place.

The underground Somme museum in Albert is well worth a visit. Allow about an hour to wonder around the tunnels viewing the exhibits and information. There is free parking in the square which is across the street.

It was amazing to see the history and walk under neath the church. Too see where people hid and to feel how cold it was even on a warm day. And coming back out into the light at the end made you teally think

This underground museum helps bring to life the horror of this war. The numerous artifacts and weapons of destruction have been recovered from this very area. It is worth the nominal fee.
