- Sandy M0 contributionsFantasticOne of the best excursions uve been on. Monkey interaction was memorable with caring interested staff Its a must. Journey there not to long from Punta Canta and the bus Guide passed on a Weather of cultural information to make the trip fly by.Written February 13, 2025
- peterg19660 contributionsAmazing 100% mustThis a must. An absolute brilliant experience /excursion. Probably best I have been on ever. Eddie our guide and Daniel the driver were excellent. They were so knowledgeable and kept the whole experience alive with facts and history of DR. Well done to all at runners/monkeyland you were superb.Written February 12, 2025
- CrystalPhase0 contributionsHappy Happy Monkeys! We loved going to Monkeyland with our family (baby of 15 months). We went with a stroller and it's very accessible (only a few stairs at the end with the coffee/cocoa experience). The guides are very funny, amazing, courteous and give a lot of information. The monkeys are nice and well treated, you'll get there running all over ! Thank you so much to Emilio, Giovanni, Z and Alberto for the day !Written February 11, 2025
- Allison W0 contributionsA fun adventure for families! We had a wonderful experience with this tour! The kids (ages 3&6) loved the hot cocoa demonstration & us parents loved the coffee. We loved visiting with the monkeys; the guides have food that they give to each family group so that the monkeys can come and climb on you/run around you. There is a beautiful photo op with the monkeys and rainforest behind you - they have a professional photographer that takes your photo, but you can also ask others around you to take photos with your own phone to avoid this cost. Our 3 year old was a bit scared of the monkeys at first, so if you have children who are fearful, it’s probably best to skip this tour. The monkeys get right on ya!Written February 11, 2025
- N790YKlorenas0 contributionsGreat trip! Our tour guide, PJ, was excellent! The trip actually lasted longer than we thought, and we were happy about that. We loved stopping at different points and learning about the area and how coffee and cocoa are produced. I feel like it was well worth the money.Written February 10, 2025
- N790YKlorenas0 contributionsThe most fun on our trip!!This was the most fun! I didn't know what to expect, but the staff was very informative about what we should do and not do when the monkeys came to meet us. I did not feel rushed at all, and I feel that we were given ample amount of time to enjoy the monkeys, take pictures, and enjoy the scenery. This was the highlight of our trip to the Dominican Republic.Written February 10, 2025
- jasminemU6074RM0 contributionsbayaguana juan doli0The jeep was NOT a comfortable ride at all. travelling through the streets and highways, smelling the exhausts from other vehicles and a fairly long ride. the sugar cane visit was along the road side with the guide chopping down a piece and handing each one of us a taste. the cigar factory was mostly a man in the village rolling a cigar and offering us a taste. the coffee and cinnamon planttion was interesting with a tasting of the organic items grown on site. bring cash if you want to buy anything. the dip in the water was a nice treat. the lunch was a little over cooked but still an ok meal. we did also drive by the baseball camps. but only visited from the road side. we also visited the town, walked thru the market, seen how many locals lived, and walked thru the oldest church. for me, i liked going through the village as i would probably never gone to see and visit with the locals or gone to an open air market. but in all the trip was ok. not the best i have every taken.Written February 7, 2025
- darreng5570 contributionsMonkeylandMonkeyland was amazing, the monkeys run and jump all over you as you feed them. The staff are very friendly and understanding. Our guide from punta cana Eddy was fantastic he explained everything upto the monkeys and afterwards with the coffee, coco and coconut plantations. This trip was worth the time and the money it's a must do if your visiting punta cana.Written February 6, 2025
- susymank10 contributionsA very sad experience watching animal abuse!Avoid at all cost! Extreme animal abuse towards the horses and mules that take you to the waterfall. They are beaten regularly. They are clearly malnourished and overworked. If you have to go to this dangerous place go on foot. Do Not take a horse!Written February 4, 2025
- Brian D0 contributionsQuality and Safty first. FUN!!Organized, Safe, Great Instructions on how equipment works, mode sure ech zipline rider was securely attached and how to slow down.Written February 4, 2025
- 265dickp0 contributionsA lot of monkey business :)Monkey land was a lot of fun. I went with my family, including two pre-teen kids. They keep asking to go back. No regrets. Emilio was an especially charismatic guide who added to the experience and made the travel time seem short. His insight on Dominican life was very interesting. Highly recommend this excursion.Written February 2, 2025
- mom222140 contributionsBest mix of culture, animals, and adventure!Probably the best excursion we have done ever. This was the perfect mix of culture, animal encounter, and adventure for reasonable price . Angel and Cesar went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. The group was small and the wait times minimal. We left the Royalton Punta Royalton at 10:40 and returned at 6:30. Our 12 and 14 year old daughters had a great time as well. The drive through the Dominican Republic towns was eye opening and we learned a lot about the area we would not have otherwise known. The spire monkeys are so light weight, my cat is heavier than them. You can barely feel Them walk in you, which is good because sometimes they swarm you! The zip lining was so fast moving that you don’t have time to be nervous. Absolutely beautiful scenery. We felt very safe the entire time.Written January 31, 2025
- mauromagna0 contributionsSuper friendly for kidsReal up and close experience with the monkeys. Super friendly for kids, they had an amazing time. Great service from Gary and RaymondWritten January 30, 2025
- Noralike G0 contributionsSuper!A perfectly organized place in one of the most beautiful locations on the island—worth visiting even just as an excursion. The monkeys are all happy, living their free and joyful lives. Avoid booking similar monkey tours elsewhere, as they often involve monkeys on leashes in less pleasant locations. Bring a change of clothes, as the monkeys might get overly excited to see you and won’t hold back! If you don’t want to pay for professional photos, try not to engage too much with the local photographer and simply take your own beautiful pictures with your phone. You’ll have plenty of time and opportunities. Amazing guide, wonderful atmosphere—I highly recommend it!Written January 29, 2025
- kkramer590470 contributionsExcellent whale watching adventure with great commentary!Trip was very organized, pickup was easy and on time, great value! Saw lots of whales, the time on Bacardi Island was very fun. Best part was our guide Emilio - he was knowledgeable, personable, and very kind. His commentary was my favorite part of the trip!Written January 29, 2025

Beware - There are no local artisan shops included in the tour. You do go to a market where souvenirs made in China are sold and a few paintings in the back area. It was worthy to note that you had a sticker added to your jacket when you got off the bus. We thought this was so that the tour company would get a % of sales. We bought - nothing.
The cigar demonstration was fine - two women demonstrated how the inner cigar is rolled and then later the outer layer applied. It was a shopping opportunity for cigar smokers. The adjacent chocolate shop was just a chance to buy locally made chocolate. While it looked like chocolates were made in the shop, not on the morning we were there.
There was a little river ride with not much to see on either side of the river. It went a couple of kilometres in one direction then turned around and returned to the starting point. Still, it was nice to get away from the resort for a couple of hours and see some of the countryside.
The trip to Casa de Campo and the amphitheatre would have been more interesting if the guide had taken any time to explain the significance of the location and of the school. He was glib and to entertain himself spent time humming and singing and occasionally shouting out a word or two. Yes, he could talk in English, Spanish, French and German but what he told us was so little that it seemed we could have had a sheet of paper with the information. We did look up the site on Google when we got back and found out all kinds of interesting things he could have told us.
Finally, the trip to the Jumbo in La Romana was interesting but it looked like a Target store or any place you buy household goods and food. Other than lunch, most of the people bought nothing here.
It was a disappointing "spree". Two cigars and a bag of cocoa.
