- 214stj0 contributionsOutstanding Cultural ExperienceThoroughly enjoyed an evening of cooking, eating, and wine tasting while immersed in the Cretan culture thanks to our outstanding guide and family cooks. We were transported by van to a family home with working farm in a village nearby Chania. The menu featured simple traditional Cretan fare which we all participated in preparing. We were a little surprised that the menu was mostly vegetarian, but no complaints whatsoever from our tastebuds. Recipes were provided by email after the class concluded. Our hosts and guide were engaging, explaining the cultural origins and stories behind the foods and ingredients. All this was done in a magical setting in the mountains. Everyone left happy with full stomachs!Written August 14, 2023
