We have spent the best time of our holiday in Martinique with Olivier, Chloe and the boys. They took us diving in Beautiful places and we had interesting conversations with the other guests. The catamaran is very comfortable and we wish them the best of luck for the future! Bonne chance Chloe and Olivier! Eric and Evelien, Netherlands

Highlight of my trip to Martinique
This trip is more focused on marine activities, not a sailing tour of the island. Oliver and Chloe are fantastic, easy going, caring hosts, and it is the personal touch that makes the trip special. We snorkeled near Grande Anse, and Anse d'arlets. The snorkeling was exceptionally clear, and many fish. I felt like I was inside an aquarium. I also saw Turtles! great day. My 87 yo mother joined the trip. and Oliver and Chloe managed her onboarding and disboarding with calm and ease.

Weather didn't cooperate, but still a wonderful time
Our cruise ship was delayed getting to port, and I emailed Chloe to let her know. I received a quick reply that there was no issue. Upon (finally) arriving, they picked us up and off we went. I wanted to snorkel, so we went around the island to a spot where I saw my first ever starfish in the Caribbean. We were virtually all alone there, so it was nice to just take my time and see things without having to worry about bumping into someone else trying to see the same thing. The water was really rocky that day, and it was cloudy and began to rain. We enjoyed a freshly prepared grilled fish with sides that was very tasty, and then decided to go back to shore. Due to the late start and the weather, we were out of sync and just tired. Had it not been for those reasons, we could have seen more, but the ship delay had already set their day back so long, and thrown ours off too, waiting for the rain to stop just didn't seem like a good thing to do. If you are looking for a small, personal experience, with prompt replies to your emails, this is your excursion. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them, and even use them again if I return.

We had an awesome time diving with Chloe & Oliver. My husband earned his PADI certification & I upgraded from my Open Water. The dives were beautiful. The lunch provided was an amazing 4 course meal. We came away with better knowledge & comfort underwater.
Overall, they are very professional and supportive. With a passion diving & the environment. Non of the regular; rush-rush & hectic predive, you get with some commercial dive businesses.

Those two days of diving were a wonderful experience: Starting with my first dive ever, I felt comfortable and reassured, and happily continued to take my first certificate. Olivier knows exactely what he is doing, and has a wonderful sense of humor! Their spacious Catamaran, delicious food and open-minded kids only added to making those days a very pleasant and memorable time, I highly recommend!

My fiancé and I had never dived before, and we decided to sign up with ATAO Plongée to take a PADI certified Open Water Diver course and obtain our permits. The diving instructors were simply amazing, in every way possible. Friendly, accommodating, patient teachers who made us fall in love with diving and the underwater world. We strongly recommend them for beginners as well as advanced divers, for ALL ages, be it to take an extensive course and pass a permit, just dive for fun and be introduced to the concept, or for other water activities and a day out on their lovely catamaran to cruise around the beautiful coast of Martinique. We've been diving with them more than once, and were never disappointed. Thank you ATAO Plongée for the wonderful experience and memories, we will definitely be coming back!

it is a family run business & they live on the boat. The food was good. Unorganized and minimal attraction. The 1st stop was good & then the 2nd stop was meh. Our group felt they should have gone over safety & boat rules. The divers in our group didn’t dive as they didn’t feel their equipment was PADI certified. They couldn’t find any expectation stickers on the equipment. They could add one more stop then spending HOURS at one spot - About 3 at first stop and five at the next. If you want to scuba dive this is not the place for you.

I really feel disappointed by reading your message... Of course that we are a PADI dive center, you can even check it on PADI website if you want. Our material is certified and regularly checked, as expected by the PADI international standards and also by the French rules and regulation. My husband Olivier and myself Chloé, both of us are professional scuba diver instructors. We are Master Scuba Diving Teachers (MSDT) certified by PADI, "Brevets d'Etat" certified by the French state, and "Federal Monitors" certified by the French scuba diving school (FFESSM). Our professional diplomas and our insurance certificate are even visible inside the boat, nearby where you put your bags. There is no sticker on the scuba diving material as we put it in the water, so as to protect the sea life, like every professional scuba diving school in Martinique... You have seen a lot of divers this day and they were all very happy, feeling safe with us and enjoying the beauty of the underwater world! Next time, feel free to ask if you have any question. I would definitely have preferred that you start by asking, instead of telling us that everything was fine and then writing incorrect things online! We don't rush during our days on our catamaran: that's holidays! We spend the morning on one scuba diving and snorkeling place, and the lunch and afternoon in another bay. We wish that everybody has time to relax and enjoy. If you had expected to go to 10 different places within one day, I guess that you did not read the description of our day before coming, I'm sorry for you.

To clarify my aunt’s (JoVermont) review and subsequent response from Chloe. My aunt and I explored many snorkeling places in Martinique, and the places ATAO Plongee took us were not the best we experienced, despite statements from Chloe to the contrary. We do not need to “ask any (other) scuba diving club”, as we personally experienced other places. We could judge the diving because we were able to see the bottom while snorkeling, it was clear there would not be much more to see. When we asked what additional things we would experience if we decided to dive, Chloe said, “some more fish and maybe a lobster”. This was not worth the additional cost for us. The group did decide against Anse Noire, but only because we had been there the day before, and there were so many small jellyfish, people could not stay in the water. On our walk down to the beach, one guy actually warned us against going in the water, pointing to his torso which was covered with stings. No other options were given. We are not blaming ATAO Plongee for the behavior of other snorkelers, however, if we had been taken to a more remote spot, we would not have been dealing with this. Chloe’s response is indicative of her response to constructive feedback. At the end of the day she asked us if we had a good experience and when we gave her an honest answer, she became very argumentative.

We tried to factually highlight our experience, the good and the not so good. This business gets really great reviews, and for the majority of people I’m sure it is a wonderful experience. It just wasn’t what we were expecting based on the website: “stay far away from the rush and the crowd” (we were actually motored TO the crowds), “At the bow, you can laze in a deck chair” (there was one cushion which could be propped up against the front window, we took turns sitting on it), “benefitting from the view of the wonderful landscapes of Martiniques’ coves” ( we were taken to two coves, minutes apart, over an 8 hour period), “you will be able to enjoy the comfort of the outside shower to rinse yourself”, (perhaps there is an outside shower, but we were never shown it or offered the opportunity to use it), and finally: There are pictures of the boat with sails up (indicating it would be a sailing trip. I grew up sailing, it was windy enough on our day to sail). I would like to point out that in her response, Chloe refers to motoring as sailing, which when one is on a sailboat sounds like the sails go up. If this is important to you, clarify before booking.

Your aunt named JoVermont on TripAdvisor left us a review, our first bad review on TripAdvisor. My husband and I were very sad. I also felt very sorry for her and for you, and I tried to explain with details what we propose and what we don't propose on our diving catamaran. When you were on board, everything went perfectly from our point of view, we did not face any problem during the day, and apart from your aunt and you, all our other customers were very happy. Feel free to contact me if you want to discuss more about that. You already have all my contact information and I always try to answer as quickly as I can.

We spent a day with ATOA Plongee in Martinique. This is a family run business, the family of 4 actually live on the boat. This review is based on what we thought we booked, and what actually happened. We assumed we would actually sail and we assumed we would go snorkeling/diving at places only accessible by boat. Neither of these assumptions were correct. Our rating is based on the disappointment at finding out that this was “a day to just relax, hang out and enjoy the boat”, for 8 hours, versus exploring the island.

We were met promptly at the pier at Grande Anse at the designated time by Oliver and taken out to the catamaran. Chloe greeted us warmly and gave us a briefing of what the day would entail: two snorkeling spots, including the barbecue lunch (additional cost) at the second spot. We motored out of the harbor and were surprised to stop within 5 minutes for our first snorkeling spot. The visibility was good and we saw a variety of fish and some coral. Initially we were going to dive here, but it wasn’t a very interesting spot, so we decided against it. Other people did dive, but they were actually learning to dive, so the spot they were learning in probably wasn’t as important to them. We were there for about three hours, which, IMHO was two hours too long for the size of the snorkeling area and the things available to see. We spent the last two hours sitting on the anchored boat.

We then motored slowly for another 5 minutes to the next harbor, Les Anses-d”Arlet. Lunch was good with a tuna and cracker appetizer, corn salad, homemade bread, and fish cooked on a grill with a side of white rice and delicious shallot and butter topping. Chocolate cake for dessert. Water and coffee were offered, with all other beverages available for purchase, (at a hefty profit margin). We snorkeled over the sea grass and saw a huge turtle eating on the bottom. The small, crowded snorkeling area was full of novice snorkelers who entered from the beach. (We actually could have walked to this beach from where we parked our car to meet Oliver.) There were many fish here, but there were so many people it was difficult to enjoy, and the thrashing of inexperienced snorkelers made the visibility poor. Additionally, it was very upsetting to see people standing on, and touching, the coral. We went out in a double kayak and paddled from one end of the cove to the other, but there wasn’t much to see as we had already spent so many hours in the same place (4 hours). At the end of the day, we motored 10 minutes back to Grande Anse.

If you are a confident swimmer who enjoys going to out of the way places only accessible by boat, or want to actually sail and see the island, this trip is not for you. If you are a new swimmer/snorkeler, someone who is learning to dive, and/or just want to spend the day sitting on an anchored boat, this is perfect for you. Reading other reviews indicates ours was more the typical day than the exception.

Hello, I feel very sad by reading your review, I'm sorry for you that you did not appreciate your day with us. Please let me give a few feedback about your assumptions: In the morning we were at Pointe Burgos. This is one of the most BEAUTIFUL PLACE TO DO SCUBA DIVING (and snorkeling) in Martinique. There are also many scuba diving people who go there everyday. Maybe it is different from Australia or Southern France : each scuba diving place in the world has its own style. But it is really not a "bad" place to practice scuba diving. You cannot even judge about it because you told us that you did not want to do scuba diving, but you can ask any scuba diving club from Martinique, they will all agree with us. On the top of that, this place is really not very easy to access without having a boat. In the afternoon we let the group choose between going to l'Anse Noire (wilder, and more time sailing, approximately 45 minutes compared to the 20 minutes that it took us to reach the Bourg des Anses d'Arlet). To give everybody a clear picture, we also indicates that in l'Anse Noire there are less turtles and less fishes than in the Bourg des Anses d'Arlet. The group (including you and your niece) agreed on going to the Bourg des Anses d'Arlet. This place is not only accessible from a boat, but it is soooo beautiful, so full of fishes and of turtles, much more than other places further. In the afternoon it is not crowded in my opinion. It may happen that some other snorkelers there don't have a correct behavior, like in any place in the world. We manage our customers, and we sometimes tell things to other people, for instance when we see that they harass a turtle, but we cannot educate all the world !

We were a great group welcomed royally, we had a great time. Maya's explanations were very clear and serious and dealing with safety feels very good. Olivier and
Chloe was very pedagogical which allowed us to identify everything we saw. An exceptional moment I highly recommend
