Our food tour with Markus was simply amazing. The variety of dishes and the great background stories from the very knowledgeable Markus were the highlights of our trip to Penang. We highly recommend this tour to anyone. Make sure you do not eat much before the tour though! The food is delicious and there is so much to eat! Really worth every penny!

My husband and I enjoyed our food tour with Marcus. He taught us so much about the different cultures and foods. The food was delicious and plentiful with drinks and desserts as an added bonus. You must arrive hungry because you will definitely leave stuffed!

When we decided to return to Penang, we knew we needed to get in contact with Kevin. Four years ago when we visited, he took us around and we loved the experience of tasting local dishes as well as learning a little more about the history of the various food districts. Our second tour with Kevin did not disappoint! Kevin made sure we were treated to new places, new foods and most of all got enough delicious local cuisine to ensure a third trip. Thank you for your kindness, knowledge and expertise Kevin. We are grateful we got to experience another food tour with you. We highly recommend this tour to people who want to do something a little different and want a change from the tourist restaurants.

We had a very nice evening out with Marcus, who picked us up punctually in his air conditioned car. We made about five stops for a really wide variety of food and drink, and he was also kind enough to take us by the jetties to see them lit up at night.

My friend and I took a food tour with Marcus last week and had a really great experience. He managed to fit us in schedule at the last minute and took us for a lunch tour in his car. We stopped at many different places and tried a real range of typical Penang food from different cultures. My friend and I are vegetarian which he catered for. The food was delicious! I would highly recommend as an activity for a trip to Georgetown :)

I came across Best Penang Food Tour via trip advisor and liked what I read plus the price was spot on so I booked, and I was not disappointed at all! Marcus is a wealth of knowledge and knows his foods really well! My teenage daughter being as fussy as she is even enjoyed the food that was offered and that’s a major bonus. Wow the foods were very delicious, so full of flavour and the little sight seeing moments were absolutely amazing too. Marcus took us to places that are mainly used by the locals, such a great atmosphere. All in all I would recommend this tour to everyone! I wish I did it on our first night in Penang but it was such a great way to end our stay.. Top tip go on an empty stomach as there is sooooo much food to be had over the 4hrs of the tour.. Marcus is friendly, easy going and we had the best time! Thank you and it was lovely to meet you :) :)

I found it hard to find the nice places for food in Georgetown by myself, so decided to book this tour. I was very lucky to have Marcus -the guide- for myself due to a last minute cancellation. He took me to several hidden places by car. After ordering beautiful dishes and drinks, Marcus explained cooking methods etc. and he was so polite to help me finish the plates:-) We share the love for food. Thanks for the great evening!

We were pleasantly surprised when Marcus, our tour guide, pulled up in his air conditioned car with a big smile & friendly greeting. We had thought this might be a walking tour but thank goodness it was not. We were taken to all parts of Georgetown & it’s surrounds where we were able to experience amazing food with the locals. There was not a tourist in sight! All of our hosts at the various restaurants & hawker stores were very friendly & happy to share their food & culture. We discovered that our host Marcus could speak six different languages which was very useful given we tried traditional Malay, Chinese & Indian street food. Marcus was very knowledgeable & easy to talk to, he’s up for a chat 😊 Warning, if you’re doing the 4.30pm tour have a very light breakfast only. Note: amongst the delights we tried was a nutmeg drink that tasted like Coca Cola - we’ve cracked the secret recipe 🤣

What a wonderful way to experience the food capital of Malaysia. Local food, local eating places, local guides. Jessi and Baptiste were the perfect hosts- we looked on them as friends by the end of the tour. The food and places they took us were varied and interesting and the descriptions/explanations of the dishes were invaluable. The dishes ranges from local, Chinese to Indian, from street hawker to sit down food market. Don’t come to Penang without doing this food tour.

My friends visit me from N.Y and we decided to book a food tour and finally found best Penang food. Marcus was our tour guide and we really amazed by the food where he took us to the pohpiah was really thumbs up. Followed by the really authentic Thai laksa. It was so yummy! For the first timer in Penang, I strongly recommend you to this food tour.

Marcus were excellent guides, it was a group of 4 and we went to 5 stops with fabulous food and deliciously tasty stops. Never have tried the tastiest poh piah, assam laksa, cendul, chinese pancake, in Penang and we did. Thai laksa is also yummy, followed by a nyonya stop. Along the way, we also have some sight seing followed by some recommendation to certain food by Marcus while driving around in Penang. Would strongly recommend tourist to this food tour. Really worth doing this tour. Thumbs up and 100% enjoy it.
